I haven't really looked at this thread yet, but the guy doesn't seem like a cheque book racer. I think with the AU he was pretty hands on and knows his way around an engine. I like the idea of a FG TTXR8 auto!

Not in the usual way no.. he's pretty clued up on what he wants and what he intends to use to acheive it.
but the work itself, is being done by a workshop as far as i can tell.

It is still an open cheque book build though, Ford GT heads wouldn't be cheap, neither would the assembled bottom end, or the manifold that has ports so big, they make a porn star's vag look like it hasn't ever been fukked.

The guy who bought it had epic plans to fix it and get it going properly. He ripped out the engine and tore it down, found a plethora of problems and pretty much got over it.

AS IF ANYONE CUTS A HOLE THAT BIG IN A BRAND NEW CAR WITH 46KM ON IT!!!

We cut a hole that big on a EF Fairmont we were turboing many years ago. After it was cut, we stood around laughing about it saying how much of a write off the car is with a massive hole that you can see the wheel through.
