BlackED_Sprint vs Sportivo....

Postby BlackED_Sprint » January 20th, 2010, 5:40 pm

well my missus was driving the sprint home from work along station street near eley road in box hill on friday night. She pulled up at the lights and was at a complete stop for about 10 sec or so when some tool in a sportivo decided to park in the boot of the sprint. Net result is both cars will be most likely be written off and the other driver will be charged with negligent driving or some shit. Lucky that no one was hurt and that she didnt get speared off into on-coming traffic.

So now its just a case of waiting for the insurance companies to sort out their shit and get back to me about whether or not the sprint has to be retired. Its sitting at the tow mob's for the moment and them and the insurance co. are having a shit fight about where it needs to be to get assessed. Insurance mob wants it towed to a repairer and the tow co. says that no one will accept it cos its clearly fucked. Just wait and see now.

Bad end to a good car. :this:

i will put pix up tomorrow hopefully, photobucket is being a tard at the mo and wont let me upload.

if i do buy the wreck back, i will be selling it as a whole, not parting it out. no room nor time to do so.
if anyone is interested in buying the whole wreck (except the stereo, thats all i want) let me know how much you would be willing to pay so i know if its gonna be worth me doing.

if not, insurance co. can have it.

*edit: photo bucket is still being ghey so still no pix

Factory manual. Momo steering wheel, recaro seats. Engine and all is still good, just damage to the rear panels, rear doors and the boot is knackered. Passenger side doors are wedged shut as the chassis is twisted. Apv rear bar is shagged as well. Gt wing is ok though. I am still waiting to hear back from the insurance mob how much they want for the wreck so ill post more when i know how much im looking at.

That sucks mate, but I feel your pain. Unfortunately I know all too well how painful insurance companies are to deal with. Probably better to just be done with it I guess. Shame though, the driveline would have made my grandpa machine into an awesome sleeper! :P

Plans are to try and get it fixed, my panel beater should be coming over tonight or tomorrow to check it out. If it's gonna be too much trouble then it'll be getting parted out after I take the parts I want...but I want to try and avoid this, i've always wanted a manual V8!

Thanks guys, but the kit will be coming off! I was to make it original again and have a nice tidy sprint, but it all depends on my panel beater, he didn't come over today, hopefully tomorrow, I really hope it won't cost too much to fix, time to finish the EA and sell it :P

My panel beater just left....said it'll cost minumum $3-$4k to fix :(

So i'm thinking i'll use some parts I need, and part the rest out. Another option was to re-shell it, but even then it just won't have the "genuine sprint" feeling lol, so i'm going to go against that idea.
