I saw this on AFF and reckon it's a bloody joke. This government just won't stop till everyone are driving around at 40kph in their beige Toyota Camrys. I reckon mine would have to be close to the 74dB

until they decide that you have to pay for the test, the letter being sent to you, the lunch of the guy doing the EPA test and then a 'non defective' fee....
they will swing it so they get cash even if you get sent a happy snap in your camry

I thought the legal limit for cars after 1986 was 90db and early was 96db or something? might have to just roll around so I dont get done.

It says it's for cars and motorcycles, but it's mainly set up for trucks who use engine brakes in the burbs.

EPA sound testing shows to do a proper test the mic has to be about 1 metre from the vehicle, so many loop holes will exist for this one I think.

This will be just as big a fail as the banning of smoking in Frankston.

nah they will issue notices for proper EPA tests...
which is why the level has been set to 76db for the road side test i assume.
i reckon even if there are other cars in the same 'frame' they will just issue an EPA test for them all...

So this is just like the people that buy a house close to an airport and then complain about the noise? They buy a home on or near a main road and then complain about traffic noise like GTFO!

Il pull the plate off my bike and pop it off the limiter for a while right beside one of these cameras. :P

Someone will probably end up making *quick install* bungs for your exhaust incase ya gotta run over to be tested lol

LOL at them setting it up in Buninyong which is just outside Ballarat, the hill that they will be setting it up on has a 52 Degree Gradient, Id like to see a truck get to 60km/h from 100km/h in 500m, they would have to be doing 60km/h from over 1km away where the hill starts.

If that's where they're setting it up then that's ridiculous! I know that hill well, and to pull up any sort of truck down that hill without engine brakes would be nigh on impossible.

not to mention ilegal, your not allowed to use foot brakes in a truck on hill decents, also the no exhaust brakes in burbs rule is a city council rule, not a vicroads rule, ive had this discussion on ocasions with the fuzz, personaly when im in town in the semi if it comes down to noise or crash (and it often does) il take the jake brake everytime

so i doubt its targeted at trucks
