problems with my 94 ed

Postby GMHKILLER » January 30th, 2010, 10:59 pm

g'day members been awhile since i have been on ere,g'day to ya all and happy new year,i have a problem with my ed 4.0 straight fuel (no gas) when driving along ,sometimes my ed cuts out like it has run out of fuel then picks up again,or sometimes it will just cut out and have to wait like 30 seconds before it will fire up again,or it will just turn over but not fire if you try to turn it over straight away when it stops,as it has just started to do it this year,so if anyone has had similar problems how did ya fix it,i am think along the lines like a fuel pump is about to sh** it self,, any info would be great

yeah fuel pump or fuel filter would be a good start.
does anything else happen on the dash?
ie. volts drop or go up or anything like that?
does it happen only when cornering, or with a full tank or only below a certain point?

It could also be the TFI module on the dizzy, they get hot and fail. Most times letting them cool a little lets you start the engine again.

Check your fuel pump first though, its the most obvious.

nah fuel pump is easy, probly the easiest thing in this situation.
but really, it could be fuel pump, fuel filter, coil, TFI module or the dizzy itself.

so i would try and get some shit fromeither a mate who has some spares or a wreckers before buying new shit, case it could get pricey

ok i have changed fuel filter and no change still does it and getting worse as i have to sit for atleast 5 to 10 minutes now before it will start as it will not fire just turns over, and for a mechanic to find the problem on a diagnostic machine,i have to take it there but by the time, the car gets there to a mechanic it will start again,so the only way i can win is leave it there for a couple of days and let it idle until it does it with them,as it is doin it kind of every second day now Y, ? i dont no y,but it is starting to piss me off
