ba shifter in eb sxr8

hi guys i know there is a tuitorial on how to install a ba shifter into an eb i have read it and not too confident in installing the unit into my car. I have all the part needed including the shifter and sss box and gear display unit(thanks to ea2ba) was woundering if i could pay someone with time on their hands to instal it for me...if anyone is interested please pm me thankz guys!!

What were you planning on doing for your centre console? Jason's method involved "raising" the console to fit the shifter housing underneath. My method involved cutting a larger hole in the trans tunnel to lower the shifter housing, thus retaining the standard console.

So you have a complete bracket for mounting the cable under the car? Because that's the other tricky bit to get right.

Unfortunately I have no time to spare to help in person.

hey commando thanks for the reply! i removed the shifter from jason's gold ea(i was the guy that bought it from ebay when he sold it., kept it for a week than some guy smashed into me rid it off the road:( i like jason method of doing it just because of the fact that no cutting is involved but he messed up the console and it looked the lowest. i was thinking of putting a au console cause heared there straight fit and seen it in an eb before and it looked awesome, and cutting till it fits or i might get a console made up not sure but not to fussed on the console the only reason i wanted help was because when jason put it in he didnt get the sequencial shift working or the led display controller working and he said he had to take it back to cve but i lost contact with him cause i lost his number.

Well, I don't know what Jason's wiring was for his SSS, whether he had EL-style looms & shit in his EA or a hybrid EA-EL loom or whatever. There are only 3 or 4 wires that need cutting/splicing to get the whole lot to work, and the LED display should be plug-n-play, no wiring needed. You need the wire numbering/colouring from "Muzza" or "Muzza_302" (can't remember) on AFF and specify what car you have (EB XR8)

So you're telling me the P-R-N-D part works no worries & all that's wrong is the SSS isn't working and the console looks like ass? The P-R-N-D bit is the difficult part out of the way!

A raised AU console may work fine, you might need to cut brackets underneath which hold in the vent piping (they're superfluous anyway) and you might find your ashtray/lighter may or may not foul on the raised console.

yer exactly commando but have to do all the work again because i sold the ea to ronza with the au ute...and now want to put the system in my xr8 so bad news have to do it all over again:'( i put th car up for swaps so i guess i'll take it from here and if i fail to get rid of it i will try installing it in my spare time, the shifter still make huge diffrence even without the sss sequencial hooked up but thanks alot commando for your help

How exactly did it make a huge difference? I'm confused.
