Ford Australia announces $31.8 million investment

Postby Troutman » April 15th, 2010, 1:14 pm

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I didn't see a thread and this is very significant news.

A multi-million investment will bring new work to Ford’s Geelong casting plant, including a new diesel engine for the Territory.

Ford Australia announced $31.8 million of new technical and environmental investment in its Geelong casting plant today, to make brakes for automotive supplier Bosch and the engine blocks for the next generation of engines for the Falcon and the Territory.

An injection of $20 million (partly from Ford itself and partly from the Victorian Government) will see Ford Australia making one million brake rotors a year under a three-year deal for Bosch Chassis Systems, which supplies the local car industry with brake systems.

It effectively means Ford-made brakes will appear in rivals' cars, as well as Ford's own.

The investments will add 50 new jobs to the casting plant, and secure the 100 jobs already there.

inline will never continue, too long, less interior space and longer bonnets. doesn't fit with the bubble safety mentality. which fucken sucks.

All the experts on AFF believe the V6 diesel is a misinterpretation, and that no V6 will be built here.
