EF owners....I need 2 favours!

Postby Rollin » May 14th, 2010, 1:51 pm

I'm doing a MASSIVE rewiring job on my ED at the moment and am grafting in an EF ECU, will be using it to control the cooling fans among other things.

I got a fan wiring harness out of a car at the wreckers but I couldn't find one with relays still in it, so if possible, could someone post a pic of the 4 relays that sit just in front of the airbox so I can get the correct ones elsewhere?

Also, does your car still start and run if you unplug the cam angle sensor (the one where the dizzy goes on EA-D engines)?

It's important that you check that it starts as well as runs. Doesn't matter if it runs poorly, it just has to go.

Much thanks in advance!

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

From memory the car can run without the cam sync sensor.
I recall stockstandard saying he ran with his disconnected ages ago

I know they will run - it will just not know which bank of injectors it should be firing.

mate with the relays i would use a EL setup, only three relays and simpler wiring arrangment.

It will run without sync 100%. Sync is only used to tell exhaust stroke from intake, and if its missing the EEC just guesses.

Get an EL ECU and fans. EF fans are 3 speed and require extra fuckwittery. Unless you're doing this to avoid running a dizzy :) In which case...

Thanks for that :D

I already have all the EF shit - fans, complete wiring harness and ECU (so the wiring harness already has wiring in it for coils and sequential injection, which I wanted). I'll be using an AU motor and it will be running on an E6X, but to free up some outputs on the E6X I'm going to use an EF computer (will have 3 speed fans...because I can :) ).

Because the E6X will be using the AU crank and cam angle sensors I was hoping I wouldn't also have to put a EF cam angle sensor in there as well, but I obviously needed the EF comp to realise the engine was running so it can work the fans, fuel pump, AC request, fuel tank ventilation etc.

I now have a pic of the relays so I'm good to go :)

Next question - what resistance resistors do I need to make the (auto) computer think the gearbox temp is acceptable?
