The info for lpg that others have given u is abit off and from what u posted info here is a break down i worked out.

U said u do 15000kms a year and based on 500kms per tank on petrol a week ur looking at 13L/100kms and premium fuel today 1.35 & lpg 0.58 (Sydney prices)

Now say ur install is gona cost you $2500.00 with the rebate of $1750.00 with extra lpg consumption of 25% and petrol use of 15% u will break even at 10,860kms worth of driving, which is about 7.2 months and from that point u will start putting money in ur back pocket with a 40% saving over petrol per week.

- Now if u want to install LPG u should get in quick before the financial yr as the rebate will drop to $1500.00.

- I have a impco LPG system and its set and forget system and this the same system Anthony aka Blownba installs from his workshop http://www.amautomotive.com.au/ ( i highly recommend him and should be ur only option for lpg install)

-Ignition is important with LPG so my recommendation is once lpg system is installed replace leads and plugs and check over coil and dizzy but id also replace coil as its cheap. This exercise is more of a done and forget thing and u know ur ignition is in good working order as lpg needs it.

- I replace my plugs between 15,000kms and that is a standard resistor lpg specific plug and change oil every 3 months as i want to keep the engine clean and ignition leads between 80,000-100,000kms.

Now once u done all that u can sit back and enjoy the benefits of lpg like i have the past 4yrs and i save $1500.00 a yr and so can u

What I covered with Ev a while back was the initial capital $ & how long he plans on keeping the car for. For those first 10 months or so he's behind with $ when he might actually need the $ right now.

My car for example, if I wasn't planning on keeping it very long-term and I was doing low kms, there's no way I would've put it on gas as I wouldn't have made my money back. Breaking even isn't the point with gas, it's getting ahead, so your 10 month figure should be at least doubled. Even then he'll only be about a grand ahead, after two years on gas.

Gas is awesome - when it suits your monetary situation, your certainty of keeping your car, and your yearly kms. In Ev's case I think it's a no for all three points above.

Dave was right before, and is still right now. Gas is not worth it for me because a) I'll be lucky to clock up 10,000kms a year on the work round trip, so even if I double that its stillonly average kms for a car; b) I still cant afford the initial outlay for installation; c) I will be gerrting rid of this car as soon as its financially viable.

Edit: LOL, I just did a journey planner thing on the Met Link website, and it says it will take me exactly 2 hours to get to work using PT and walking, as apposed to 20 min drive!

On a brighter note, picked up the suspension from Adam last night, thanks heaps mate, all looks the goods. The springs look hella thick too, so should sit nice and firm hopefully. Anyway, got it booked in at my local Pedders joint for fitment Saturday morning, was told it should be done by lunchtime if I drop it at 8am. So being a Pedders place, I am also expecting it to come back with a quote for about $2k worth of shit the reccon needs fixing on it too no doubt! Hopefully they don’t give me any shit about it, and they just fit it and give me my car back. Although knowing my luck, they will try and hold it for ransom or something. All I know is that if I get away with actually paying the quoted price, I will be amazed!

No, I did Dave, before I booked it in, I called around like 5 places this morning. Three of them don't do weekends, and one didn't want a bar of it at all! So I didn't have much of a choice really. They want $285 including a front end alignment. Weather I get away with actually paying that is a different story! No doubt they are going to give me some sob story about how there was unexpected extra work or some crap to justify charging me more. Ah well, at least if I have a problem with it they have to fix it right?

Dude, that's how you get stooged. It's a straightforward job, if they find a defect such as a bush on its way out or a control arm is bent, they can LIST it as a comment on your itemised invoice, they cannot legally do any extra work without your consent. They can partway thru the job call you up to advise you of the problem and give you an over-the-phone additional cost, but they require your consent to go ahead with the works.

They've given you a quote of $285 for fitting the new springs & a front end alignment. This means that when you drop the car off, you've entered into a contract/agreement where they fit the new springs and align the front end, and you pay them $285.

Quote was for springs and shocks, which I have for all four corners. All I want is the springs and shocks swapped! I just want it to be a car again, not a skateboard! Then I can fit the new Lukey cat back I picked up off my mates little bro, and not worry about it dragging on the ground!
You guys are right though, I can't let them walk over me and get bent over again for something I didn't want. I know my tyres are bald, I know I have a hole in my exhaust, I'm sure the front bushes are stuffed. I will fix those when I get around to it myself. Anyway, got the suspension fitted at my local Pedders Saturday morning, and actually managed to get away with paying the quoted price!! Can't complain about that! Does that get me a man card back now?
It rides a fvck load better now, and actually clears things too! Its still slightly on the firm side, but that doesn’t worry me as its not where near as bad as it was. It just feels a lot more stable, as its not bobbing and bouncing around. The steering is even nicer too, as the wheel used to snatch in my hand over bumps. Big thanks to Adam for hooking me up with his kit, its a great combo so far mate!

Other than that, I got all inspired by the positive outcome of the suspension, and picked up the 2.5” Lukey cat back I got off my mates brother. So got the car up on the ramps, and pretty much wet myself with laughter at the condition of my current middle muffler! Its literally bent in half!! I did a right old job of squashing the prick! Its actually torn a hole, not just a scratch.
So I attempted to remove the stock cat back, and got as far as the bolts on the cat flange and was defeated. They are bloody rusted on, and I couldn’t get a good enough purchase on them to move em. Even drowned the things in WD40, no go. So it looks like it’s off to an exhaust joint for me. Probably better, as now I can get a rear muffler fitted as well, as this one on;ly has a tiny single muffler, and I can imagine will be loud as hell.

According to the pedders bloke, from what I had it in the last photos its come up 1 inch front and 1.5 inch rear. Basically XR height now, which is what I was after. I will get photos next time I am home in the daylight.
