righteo, got the wheel in before finally. went to the old mans work to get something that would fit so i could get the nut off!
here's a couple of pics:

Image

Image

the car is a bit filthy inside and out atm but she'll be right. I cant believe how different the wheel feels, its awesome!
just want to know, how much is the standed leather wrapped wheel worth and is any one interested in it? pretty much is in perfect condition...

and here are a couple of dodgey pics of a little something i picked up on the weekend...

Image

Image

excuse the crappy quality.
plans for that is maybe drive it around for a while then thinking a 351C, 4 speed man, lower it a bit and some 12 slotters... still not sure about it all yet tho.

cheers.

if you leave the nut on the thread a little bit, when you crack the wheel off it will stop at the nut and not smack you in the face

the leather and wood/leather wheels were just a momo wheel (olympic 3)
ford used the plain leather in eseries, but the wood/leather fits exactly the same...

aparently ford sold them out of dealerships /spare parts back in the day as a $1000 option  but you could get them through momo stockists for a lot cheaper

ahhh righteo! thanks mate. i thought they were an option coz they were pretty much identicle to the leather one but wood instead. i much prefer the woodgrain anyway. i like wood.
it looks original. almost bought a full leather momo one the other week, glad i didnt now. much prefer this one. some how just makes the car feel so different

thanks for the comments... the cake was delicious... and the xd is pretty neat for a 30 year old car... (has had respray at some point tho)

now that i have the wagon, i dont have to drive the fairlane everyday so now here's my next great idea...
a complete df or dl ltd interior (or nf/l leather cappa interior)
i dont imagine it will be an easy job so i want to know exactly wats involved and what problems i'll have before i hop into it.

will i be able to just swap all the plastics?
whats involved in putting front seats in and wiring in electrics?
does the dash just go straight in or are all the mounts different?
how much wiring is involved and can a dumb arse such as myself do it or is that side of things best left for someone else?
roughly how many hours would be involved?

i'm thinking the way to go is find a wreck with good interior so i have everything i need.
what else do i need to know? :banghead:

any advice will be appreciated!

this car is kind of an E.O.I now... i am looking at gettin an au fairmont wagon or ef xr6 wagon, or au III - ba xr8, or maybe even something completely different. lol i still dont know, hence im in no rush to sell.

will sell the whole lot for $7k, still have everything to make it back to original. obviously the more stock it goes, the cheaper. let me know if interested at all...

cheers.

i officially have my first problem with this car. has been good til now. hoping some one may know what this is and the fix to it...
sometimes when i am driving along the battery light will come on and trip computer will start beepin and the car will drop into 3rd (limp home mode or watever it is) the other day it was happening the entire way home from work (usually a 10 minute drive) and was only when i had the throttle on. other times it will come on for a split second, drop into 3rd then go away then go back into 4th and other times i can drive it as long as i like and have NO problems...
i am thinking something to do with the alternator as i got a bit of oil on it where the wires connect the other day when i was topping the engine up... if thats the case, how do i fix it? could it just be a slipping belt or something?
any help would be appreciated.

cheers - jarrod

well... i cleaned the conections to the alternater a couple of weeks ago and havent had a problem since so im happy about that.

i am wanting to go 5 speed within the next couple of months but i need to know a few things first...
wat r ALL the things i need? obviously the box and manual pedals but wat else?
am i going to need a different diff and ECU?
i was speakin to a mate the other day (who is on this forum) and he said v8 boxes are hard to get ur hands on so the best way to go is get a 6 cyl t5 and get a v8 bell housing.
i have got people who can help me do it, or rather basically do it all but i just wanna know what exactly is required and how much is the goin rate for a manual conversion these days?
if anyone has a good condition v8 manual conversion in vic at a good price let me know!

thanks - jarrod

i believe the input shafts is different on the V8 and I6 aswell as the commodore T5's but you can get them changed.

manual plan is coming along very slowly... looking for the whole v8 manual conversion so i dont have to mess around changing other crap...
i learnt a valuable lesson the other day, dont lose ur keys and not know the key code!!
$250 later and i now have one key. sucks balls. at least i know the code for it now if it ever is lost again.
one thing i wanna know is, where do i get a remote? can i just tune one in that is already synced with another car?
i advise u get a spare key cut or know the code for it.
