The only Ford V8 that will impress me is this one: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=13334&start=0&hilit=clevor

Put an LS1 in it or turbo the 4 litre. Anything else is aids.

just do something!! lol!! Nah kidding, what are your plans now. It was DOHC, then 5.0....I think if you went with a T3 motor and ECU. More then enough poke to move the ED along, and with the 6 speed, would make for one unique car.

This thread has been dead for a little while so I thought I may as well update it. Car at this stage will be going V8 but most likely stroked(Not putting in a stock 5 litre), don't plan on putting it in for a year or so anyway (P Plate laws are a bitch). So in the mean time I am going to do the things I can still get away with in preparation like the 6 Speed and different diff gears, thinking 3.7s most likely, and strangle what I can get out of my Tickford motor. I'm hoping by the time that the motor is ready that Snort have made one of the M112 supercharger kits to suit a Windsor but only time will tell, if not i'll just turbo it :P. 5 Litre that I have gotten hold of requires a rebuild anyway so it gives me room to play.

Cheers Scotty, yeh thats true, I will speak to a couple of engine builders and get a few opinions. Engine rebuild won't be starting till early next year so I got some time. Have a few other cosmetic plans in store for the car and I am hoping to have it done by AFD next year, well......thats the goal :D

Yuo could probley go even lower diff gears then 3.7 with the 6 speed going in..You should be sitting under 1500rpm at 100kms

Supposedly with a 6 speed and 3.45 I would be sitting at roughly 1600-1700rpm at 100km, but with the 6 gears they have more of a kick as it is. I'll most likely speak to some diff guys and get some opinions. But i know 3.7s will give me more kick but still be safe to drive.

3.73's are factory 6 spd diff gears. 3.45's + T56 means 1600rpm @ 100.

why put a 6cyl t56 in only to have to rip it out and pull it down to change input shaft etc + 2 seperate bell housings...

why not do it once do it right. what cop is gonna pull over a green p plater with a v8 falcon.... 99% of them fall under power/weight ratio anyway....

Pretty sure the input shafts are different (as well as the bellhousings obviously) because the V8 is shorter than the 6.

Also, there is a selection of different gear ratios available so the correct diff ratio will depend on the actual 6th ratio that you end up with - I have 3.7s and my car sits just under or on 2000rpm@100km/h IIRC.

Re: Kyle's ED GLi/NL Ghia - Now with 141rwkw and new interior

Postby Kyle the ED4LTR » August 9th, 2010, 9:39 am

Time that I updated this thread, I got all my brakes and EL ABS conversion complete, swapped the K Frame and now have the EL K Frame with a V8 Swaybar all bolted up thanks to EB_Ghia. Thought it was also time that I got some enginework happening and installed a set of Lukey extractors, and a Wade 1645au camshaft. I got the car tuned and ran 141rwkw with 390nm of torque which I was quite happy with.

I'm super stoaked with the tune, smooth power curve all round and staggering fuel economy which I think is about even with the fairlane. I got another few nice treats for the car which I'll post pics up of soon.

Although since I did the K Frame swap I have had nothing but issues with the steering rack and lines so I ended up getting a reco rack and new lines, and got the P/S Pump recoed (Thanks Kev), now it's all good. Interior has also changed a little bit, it has the right colour interior and LTD Woodgrain.

Image
Image

Next step is to get this 6 speed sorted and put some new rubber on the 18's, so the car is all read for the Charity Cruise, doubt the 6 speed will but the wheel's will be. After a long look and missing out on heaps due to lack of funds, I have finally got myself a new steering wheel to replace the current one.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

Now the mission of getting the right colour airbag :S.

I think I got to keep this thread updated im getting slack.

Retrimmed BA XR seats upfront, and some EL rears fabbed up to look like BA rears, less issues with fitment that way.

I think I got to keep this thread updated im getting slack.

Nice score on that wheel!

Interior looks good, just need to put the missing plugs/caps in the arm rests/grab handles on the door trims - stuff like that always stands out so much to me.
