Yes I did say that, and yes I do have a mangina! I don’t care, at least it will keep me out of a tree or lamp post longer! :P

Be that as it may, I would still prefer to not void the warranty as it will look much better when it comes time to sell the car. Besides, I can strongly guarantee a stock SS would be more than enough for me anyway.

lol ev you cant sell it for 12months aswell incase you didnt know... which means if you get a loan on it you are STUCK with the loan for minimum of 12 months. employee pricing is only good if you plan on keeping the car for a while....

ford do it too, back in the day i could of got a brand new base model fg xr6 for like what people are selling them for now with 60,000km on them (was more than 10k under retail price)

Yeah, I did know mate, its 11 months with this deal. So even if I do decide to sell it after a year, I will only be down the on road costs, as it should only depreciate back down to my initial purchase price. Anyway, who cares, its only money. Not like I have anything else to live for, might as well get something that makes me happy!

Postby ClassicAU » August 22nd, 2010, 10:27 pm

Back to grandpa, had a bit of a mishap on the freeway on the way home tonight. Had the cruise on at what I am guessing is 100km/h (haven't confirmed since the diff change) and went to overtake. Totally forgot about the fact that I don't have a cruise switch on the clutch, so as soon as i put it in, the revs went skyward! Went to hit the off switch, thumb slipped, then just kept bashing at it till I eventually snapped the buttons clean off! Meanwhile, this whole time its bouncing of the limiter at like 6k! Did that for what I am guessing was about 5-10 seconds. Pulled up in the emergency lane, and seemed ok. God knows what sort of damage I have done to the motor! Got home ok, but when I pulled up the temp was on the high side. So I idled it for a few mins, and seemed to go back to normal. Only different sound I could hear was loud ticking from the injectors i think. Knowing my luck, i am going to start it tomorrow morning and its going to make all sorts of noises! I can't believe i didn't lunch the engine!

Anyway, gave the thing a wash and oil change today, and took a couple of photos of how it sits now. Scrubs up not too bad.

5700 rpm for ten seconds? Mine has been there over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... you get the picture.

They have the limiter set there to protect them hitting the limited means they are stopping prior to damage point. Your engine has finally had a chance to live! Why didn't you just tap the brake pedal????

Haha, tell me about it mate! The bloody car got more attention than I did! Almost had more money spent on it yesterday too! :P

nstg8a wrote:why didnt you take your foot off the clutch?

I did mate, but I went to shift into fourth, and because the revs had shot up as soon as I put the clutch in it wouldn’t go. So I got stuck in neutral with it still revving until I managed to kill the cruise off.

Anyway, drove to work fine this morning, so hopefully there is no lasting damage. I need to pull my bloody finger out and get it over to my mechanic soon anyway, so I will get him to check it out for me. The last two services I have done myself!

I considered it, but couldn't justify it, despite how good of a deal it may be. Not worth it unless I intend to keep it for a while, then i am stuck with a massive loan. Worked out that I would still be down money even if i sold it after 11 months.

Seriously though, pretty sure it is fvcked, or was fvcked to beging with. Not to worried though, as I would rather rebuild a factory unit than get a "new" one build for me, and have it die anyway like last time!

It's probably not even worn. A lot of the time they just only work as an LSD if you treat them in a certain way. With a few of mine, if I was going to try and do doughies I'd start of in an epic standstill, rather than throw the car sideways from nothing - because it'd usually single if I did that.

My first LSD in my old EA would only kick out going to the right or while doing a standy, never to the left.

Just Ford LSD's. They are shit. Just like all Ford diffs.

LIES!! I recon I could kill a lokka, plus I would need my pegger diff back for that anyway. I think about the only diff that could put up with my shitty arse driving style is what the WA boys are using! Full 9” conversion with a Detroit Tru-track FTW!! Since I don’t have $3k for a diff though, I’ll just rebuild this one instead.
