The engine matches the Vin so its an EA block.

The head has a tickford symbol so its an XR head off a later model.

yeah mate no ea tickfords ever built for production. I'm not sure if they had anything to do with ea gt show car but i don't think so

3.9 and 4.0s are pretty similar. Heads are completely interchangeable.

What numbers are on the head near the T? You'll be able to tell what model its from by the first numbers, eg 94DT is an EF tickford head.

HMMM so ya probably think the el has problems, i been keepin this quiet and i just dont know whats happened to it, about 3 weeks ago on a friday i thought i would give it a tub cause its dusty up here and go to town for a drive, got right into it with pressure washer everywhere! it looked as good as it could i had it runnin for about half an hour, nothins gone wrong since i got it it was all good after its wash i hopped in it headed up the drive and stopped to shut the gate, (thats like 200 metres) as i was locking the chain it just revved up a little only for a second or so died down backfired and stopped! i tried to start it up but she just sort of fired and stopped a couple of times and seemed like the battery was a bit low, so i went back got a 4by with 2 batteries in it and jumped it (headlights on etc 4by 12 volt system) tried a few times and the starter burnt out so i left it there. A couple of days later when i went to drag it into the shed i noticed that the battery was dead flat so i checked that out its knackered, anyway its had a new starter, battery, gas switches, sensors just about every relay, plugs, cap, rotor, reset everything we can, its got spark and if you do the ecu reset it goes but after its shutoff and i go back later its the same again, turn off the gas switch to the centre pos so all fuels off when its runnin and it just runs on petrol! i mean we have checked all the earths, checked everything in it and under it while its on the hoist so you can see properly and it still hasnt left the driveway! its almost lije the dizzy slipped the cog, but as i said reset the ecu and it runs untill its turned off. all i did was wash it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :?:

Use some punctuation please. A full stop and a space after each sentence would be enough. What you have typed above is painful to read!

there were no Tickford EA's in production. it was only in EB onwards. that's why there were so many different small company's (SVO, AIT, TSS etc) that made performance models back in the late 80's early 90's.
Daily driver: AU2. 5 speed. 19" BBS LM. Full exhaust. Lowered. A mix of AU XR leather interior and T series goodies, converted to full power windows. 3.45 LSD. AU1 XR kit with classic spoiler.
Weekend driver: EA SVO - AU motor. Built BTR. SDE 3600 stall. T76 turbo. Locked diff. On E85. approx 425rwkw. 10.8 @ 126mph

i know the issue with your car... its an EA. plain and simple. both the motors will run on either ECU, sounds like you got water somewhere it shouldnt.
EA's are prone for massive electrical issues

im not saying your car is crap or anything but its a well known fact that EA's were full of wiring issues. if you have issues still find an EB loom and fit the whole thing to your car and that will fit all the wiring issues
