I thought 5.1 was a Wheels figure, and they always ride with a passenger.

See the article for the reference. I couldn't find anything on the FPV site to clarify.

5.1 was the figure for G6ET and XR6T back in the day.

F6 prob ran the same time because those fags can't drive and the F6 doesn't stick with it's "skinny" rear tyres. Common problem :D

i reckon they should make it extremely fuel efficient and drop the power some more if possible to prevent the power levels from being too close together

The FPV GS would be quite a nice substitute for the XR8 in any case.

They don't necessarily think that far ahead. Automotive media has been speculating over the demise of the Falcon for decades. Wheels magazine writer Bob Hall suggested that media predictions of the death of the Mitsubishi Magna/380 harmed consumer confidence and effectively caused its ending. It would be a shame if the same happened here.

The Falcon six was canned to be replaced with European motors, however the decision was suddenly reversed with an all-alloy six supposedly under development instead. There will still be the four cylinder turbo I think next year, though honestly its fuel economy will be appauling next to a modern European turbodiesel and thus will not reverse the Falcon's 'dinosaur' reputation. Why they bothered going down this path I cannot say.

Eventually the Falcon may not be sustainable as a local product, which for some reason nobody has sought to export in meaningful numbers. The 4.0 motor in particular will have passed its time given the increasing obsession with fuel economy numbers, but my advice is to avoid buying into the media's dramatisation of the situation as there are some good years still to come.

Well said Jack. Everything I know and think about the Falcon's past and future, except for what I read about 3 years ago about Ford working with a Melbourne uni to develop an alternatively powered Falcon. I don't know whether it died or is being kept secret until they've got something worthy to report.

I'm looking forward to seeing what people can get out of the new GTs with a cooler and an edit.

Ergh the fucking GT is soooo ugly. Had to say it. Pains me to call them ugly, but it has to be done.

Those wheels, those stripes - wtf were they thinking? They look like some TTF specials.

Hopefully they don't **** up the F6's looks as well.

Best looking FPV GT to date is the BF2 IMO. I almost bought a red one with white stripes about 6 months ago - just because of how it looked. Never mind the boat anchor up the front.

Really wanting to get in to a GT now, but after 6 Turbo's I think it's going to be a hella boring drive.

Bipolar: cheers. Not sure if it'd count as 'alternative fuel' but the liquid injection LPG is a very cool technology coming soon. Decent power and economy at last.

Re the GT, it's nice to see the EA's infamous sky blue colour making a comeback, too. Maybe the narrow-spoke wheels are meant to reduce unsprung weight, but frankly the GT E is the only one I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive. Great motor though!

Keen followers of Drive will recall an article talking about the crate engine being available for import before the actual car went on sale. I think they said it cost $8k or something. Probably without the S/C though...

Here's the original link, $7500 for the motor. Keep in mind an LS3 is probably similarly priced, but there are many other expenses involved.

http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-ne ... 11j3m.html

To get to 'Miami' spec, you'd just be adding the same Eaton supercharger and voila! Similar performance to a high boost E series turbo at only 4 times the price!

Drove a Miami GT today.

Goes hard, and sounds awesome! Love the faint hint of blower whine. Low down torque is huge, gets moving so effortlessly (if you don't spin the tyres). Rolling acceleration is pretty epic too.

It’s just, if you’re not blinded by FPV or HSV partisanship, you’d want the best of both worlds – FPV’s engine and auto with HSV’s launch control and Magnetic Ride Control suspension. And a German interior. And something a little more low-key externally. That would be some package…

stand aside LS engines... theres a new 'boss' :P

Xtreme Ford Tuning purchased an Auto GS ute.

282rwkw in stock form

Work on the tune (which also raised the boost to around GT Spec + higher rev limit)
361rwkw

to the track last night to an 11.7 on 'radials'
(MPH on the time slip was wrong, so they're not sure what MPH)
