bng EL XR6...now wingless

Postby bng » February 2nd, 2011, 6:53 pm

Hey all,
This is the new addition to my family, '98 EL XR6, 180XXXkms, ticky kit, and sunroof. Over the moon with it. Picked it up today. Tomorrow the full exhaust with go on and will get serviced. Next week look at lowering it half an inch, and change the wheels over. Im looking into buying a bullet boat, so this will become a tow car and nothing too powerful

Thanks mate. Surgery went fine. I just had laser eye surgery.
Hmm I don't mind the orange tailights/indicators. I think it goes with the colour. I think the car has one of the best colours. I love it. But I won't have it till Monday and then I'll try get it into my mates samsh repair to fix the broken left hand blinker. So might not have it till Tuesday/Wednesday.
I'm craving my car!
Photos will come soon of it lowered and with rims

id leave the FTR's on it.. looks great as is. if its a tow car dont get king springs, get some dobsons, they have a higher spring rate so alot stiffer and better for towing

The ftr's will be sold. But we have another set if down the road I change my mind. Dobsons? Never heard of them. It won't be serious towing but still worth looking into. Those FR's are awesome. But
I'm not gonna part with 4 grand for rims. I'm not that stupid. The half an inch will hopefully make it the normal xr height with the 18s. Too low and it's a kent to tow. Even a fibreglass boat!

Your car was driven to supercheap that day and it's been locked away since. I should keep driving it to keep the kms higher than mine :D

I have a new tensioner assembly, new alternator, new serpentine belt. My seat is being done in the next week or two. So its getting a few things done here and there
I could take it for a run to work and back, I wonder how it would go in traffic. Mine does it fine so I assume yours would
I think you need new shocks, it feels a bit like a boat

Nice pickup mate - Regency Red XRs look awersome...heck Regency Red anything looks good :P

I agree with the tail lights - for some reason, the amber indicators suit the XRs - breaks up a bit of an ordinary rear-end IMHO...ghias on the other hand with chrome inserts in the bar look good with the clear tailies and all the chrome garnish / spear bizzo going on - horses for courses !

RE Hayman Reece - 2300 KG is the maximum IIRC...that's what mine is - didn't think there was an EXTRA heavy duty option ?! Call a Hayman Reece distributor and ask them :)

Cheers,
Steve

Just an update-
Well i havnt touched the paint yet. paints still stuffed. Ive had it lowered an inch front and rear, sports ryder with heavy duty in the rears. Ive had HIDs put in aswell. Loving the way it handles compared to before. stiffened up the ride alot.

Before

After

Front needs to be lower i think. Ideas?
