Check out our wheels

Postby mygreened » June 21st, 2011, 8:05 pm

So last night my wife was on her way to school & she pulls over thinking she has a flat. So she calls me up & tells me so I'm on my way. When I get there all the tyres are still up. She says take it for a drive so I jump in drive forward about 2 meters & hear a small scraping noise so i get out to find this
This is the right front Image
This is the same wheel Image
Same whell Image
Back right wheel Image
Same wheel inside Image
Right front wheel was scraping here Image
The gap in the road she hit this at 70kph No signs no street lights just a hole Image
the wheels on the left aren't as bad as the right but they are damaged & have no idea what else could be damged have to wait for insurance to assess the car wheels are only 6 months old

Just wondering, is this in Hoppers Crossing? It looks like the gap that's near the Uni that I go to and when I hit it at 70 k's I fear that I'm gonna damage my rims/tyres :/

I don't think you can avoid it unless you completely went into the other lane or slow right down. There were a few more spots like that around Werribee but they fixed them (didn't take them long).

That sucks about the wheels though.

write ya council.. you will get paid back for wheels and tyres... if not write them again with the help of a lawyer... been done many times, nearly all councils just pay up no court case needed....

My old man did the same in his f6.

Fucked all 4 rims and 3 Tyres (half the road was washed away) and bucked the front right hub and split the front lower control arm bushes.

Council told him to **** off, insurance paid up though.. $6k damage lol...

Thank **** for insurance!!

yep, ensure you've got photos of the problem section of road.
if the pot holes big enough, they tend to pay up.

tell the insurance company that you would like to pursue the council and they can do it on your behalf :)
Yes and photos and email the council before they cover the road up and keep all the info you have!!

You can go through insurance or write directly. I got a chip in my windscreen from roadworks and was curious to see whether it's covered. They told me I could go through insurance and let the company contact them to get payment back or there was a list of things I had to provide directly to them that they'll consider and then pay for damage.
List was stuff like pic of damage, road, time/place, witnesses etc. Looks like you've covered most of that anyway.
