Heaps of people from here go to CVE Performance in Hallam and they do amazing work.
Ban low performance drivers, not high performance cars.

Is it school holidays?

Try looking in peoples build threads and see where they have gone.
Most people do the majority of the work themselves, they're not hard cars to work on.

always hard to find a good mechanic

I've only found one bad transmission place 10 years ago, and he closed down. Every other mechanic I've been to has been good. E-Series aren't some ultra-complex European import where only 4 people in the country can service them. They're at the point where it's not worth paying a mechanic to fix things.
Specialist shops (tyres/wheel alignments, machining, trans/gearbox/diff, tuning) are a different subject.

Mechanics charge $80ph too, 2 days labour will buy another E-Series :P

CVE isn't in Hallam, they're in Carrum Downs. The tune only gets done in Hallam. ;)
It was Paul at CVE that helped me get my goal with the LTD when Herrod couldn't.

I know there are a lot of people who shit can Jim Mock Motorsport but I enjoyed their products, it came at a price but their products was proven in my car and even 4 years after I have sold it I know its still going strong.

e series preformance in melbourne

Postby Ech0_ » June 23rd, 2011, 10:38 am

Just don't go to horse power factory. My mates parents love it there so I went down on their recommendation and was also excited to be at the place after being a loyal viewer of gasoline then aus garage for so long but then I get there and the person behind the desk was rude, then said there ford person was out to lunch but if I left my information they would get them to call me back after lunch and as soon as I said it was an eb I got a "why waste our time" sigh and I never got a call back. Could not have been more bitterly disappointed in a place.

Next I went to lonewolf in seaford and ended up spending mega bux for a destroyed car which I'm still fixing over 12 months later after 18 months of pain threw them (once the new turb's is on not one part of my car has anything to do with them as everything they did was shit and either didn't work or failed soon after)

Then I stumbled onto c.v.e after Paul was kind enough to give me some advice when I was pleading for help as my car was in such a poor state after then lonewolf incident. Since then the car has actually been running which for a daily is an absolute dream. It's still had it's ups and downs but most of that was cause by the previous parts that I hadnt been cashed up enough to replace. Couldn't recommend Paul any higher. Friendly bloke who is always willing to help (the number of times he has been kind enough to even just explain things over the phone to me while I'm doing them even though I'm sure he has better things to do but he has never told me, always just seems happy to help) his also found some decent numbers in my car and has gone above and beyond to help me get things done yesterday as it's my daily.

knowing that would help rather than everyone throwing around names of places

different places obviously specialise in different areas

Few years back i had a few issues with my fairlane it went to GZM automotive and never again
Sat there for 3 months and all that was done el xr6 manual ecu fitted and that was bout it like echo these guys were recommended and my cars nothing special to others but means alot to me then it went to kev (schmee) and it was running spot on it was fuel pump, filter, distributor, rotor, cap, plugs & leads
and after this ive been very paranoid of where it goes..
Now suggested Northern EFI for my dyno tune or if i go J3 i'll see paul at cve
