My cousin has an FG XR6 in nitro blue, it's a great colour!

well to tell you the truth its not rich parents or anything like that, ive saved up from working the past two years and only a little help by the parents. plus put it this way, u spend 10k on ur first car, spend another 10k on top of that, and its not worth it. plus if u can get something like that why wouldnt u? a p plater driving a 195kw car, how cant that be fun? btw NO LOAN HERE MATE lol

First of all its good your happy with your first car and it'll probably last you a long time.
Does it have an lsd? is it manual? If the answer to these two questions is yes, then it will be fun.
Remember those are flywheel killerwasps your talking about.

Its not the outright purchase that is expensive.....

Its the servicing and upkeep costs that tip you over the edge. But hey have fun with it and remember when your mates say "oi cvnt do a skid" you should be a sad sack and say no it will only accelerate the wear and tear and I cant afford that. :P

who cares how he got it and how he payed for it, there a nice car, and very easy to maintain as not much goes wrong, so there a perfect car for a young person. Its a new trend anyway, alot of young people are snapping up newer cars and taking advantage of the way car market is at the moment, cost of living, fuel prices etc... Even new FG XR6's are relatively cheap at the moment

thanks again, yes taken good care of her. i paid 26k, extremely happy, the only mark that was on the car was a small chip on the bonnet which was touched up and u dont even notice unless pointed out, and even the front end had absolutely no scratches, car is immaculate outside, and not even a mark inside. its pretty much brand new, wheels not even a mark and on original tries. :D

hear my thoughts? just come and work for me for a day at a Ford dealer :?, Falcons are more reliable than ever, the FG is a highly reliable & refined car. And with the cost of living and fuel, I doubt he has a wife & kids to support, familys are not buying large new or newer used cars anymore, hence the massive drop in the large car new & used low km car markets, especially the Falcon at the moment. And buying into this market is now more accessible than ever to younger people, and alot of them are taking advantage of them, and good on them, wish it was like that when I was that age

so you didn't answer my question did you lol

if this kid can't do any of the work himself, and pays you **** at ford to fix anything, then he won't be able to afford a girlfriend or kids.
the massive drop in car value will continue also, so unless he offloads it in a few months, he will only lose money.

anyway, as you said, easy to maintain and not much goes wrong, perfect for a 17 year old ;)

even if it does still drop, he still has an almost brand new car, which isnt going to give him much trouble, if anything does go wrong, it will most likely be covered by warranty anyway, a new car warranty is quite flexible, and at 15,000km, consumables such as tyres & brakes wont/shouldnt be needed for a long time, and Ford servicing is now cheaper than ever with capped price servicing anyway. The price of servicing at a Ford dealer has been much cheaper than places such as Ultratune for many years now also. And I am around these cars all day, everyday, and there has been a large increase in younger people owning newer cars in recent times, it shows if your smart with money, its really not a hard task to purchase & maintain a car like this, is that so hard to believe?? :?

and think about this, if this car came in for a service the most it would probably need would be wiper inserts or a rotate & balance of the wheels. If an e-series came in with 200,000+km's on it, and it had a page and a half of items wrong with it (which happens pretty much all the time) costing a few thousands dollars, I know which bill id be happier paying, an older car like an e-series are harder to maintain than an almost new car like an FG, in the sense and bearing in mind that not everyone knows what there doing when it comes to cars

The XR's look tought and sporty, the g6e looks tough but classy which is good. black ones, which i think, sit right up there with the styling of bmw's and merc's :good:

But back on topic Im jealous haha just look after it and leave traction control on in the wet

Fg traction control turned off the car still won't let you go sideways with all the safety features they have. I personally couldn't spend that much on my first car without a loan. Everytime I looked at it I would be thinking that was a deposit for a house :(.

But they are a nice car :)

Actually you would be surprised, even with traction on and perfect conditions, it can/will go sideways

Just going by what my mate that works at ford told me. Said with all the stability control and what not. You can't hold an fg sideways. Bf's are older and different. My mum has a fg. Dad tried getting it sideways once just to see what it'd do and nothing. I'm not talking about a little kick out though. I mean decent angle and held there.
240rwkw, 6 speed manual wagon. Good times indeed.
