Well yes and no, the car was in need of some simple TLC which it got but the idea was a cheap wagon for family needs which it does perfectly but I wasn't counting on the auto dropping its guts or the dizzy giving up the ghost. Other than those 2 things its all apples.

I love driving it with the sound and some of the looks I get. You see people looking around to see where the V8 rumble is coming from. Also you get a few ricers not game to race as they are so intimidated by the idle..lol if only they knew how slow it is. Disney loves the wagon too.

Postby vegabass » July 28th, 2011, 3:31 pm

So one small thing that has been giving me the poops is the airbag light flashes code 52 which is a low voltage (repaired). The guy who owned it before said it came up when it sat with a flat battery for a few weeks.

I have been meaning to clear it for months and months but never got around to it. Any-who today was the day! I read the ford mods doco and a few random threads and did the clearing procedure which didn't work first up but after having better connections to the pins worked a treat. Now I'm not being confronted with some gay airbag flashing code.

I'm pretty chuffed with myself, just thought Id share that with the web. :drinks2:

The other bonus is now the airbag will actually work if it needs to :P
I believe it automatically disables itself whenever the light comes on.

Yeah it does "turn off" as such but Im sure it has added at least 20kw in power as now there is more voltage available for the coil to fire! lol, Ill keep telling myself that.

So tempted for heads but have rego on 2 cars, rates, all the quarterly bills, and trying to make some progress on the house!

Also just had pedders do a $14 safety check for shits and giggles.....

$3,327.60

Should be able to do everything they have quoted for less than a grand.

I have just taken it on a 3200km road trip to the goldy and back with no issues what so ever. Was getting a bit over 400km to a tank of gas and really enjoyed the drive. Im still thinking of selling it but have spent a bit much on replacing stuff. Plus the sound excites me every time I start it. A bit random but the sunroof all of a sudden works perfectly... before you would have to hold your tongue in the right spot and contract your rectum while holding the buttons in the exact sweet spot for it to open. Now it just works :)

So I think the old windsor has gone to low hp heaven. Low oil pressure and what sounds like a death rattle. I have left the POS on the median strip in town and have bought a carton of beer.

351 Cleveland time anyone?

Well I had a big night with my sons 1st birthday and christening, a lamb on the spit, lots of family and friends etc etc. It was a great night. Have just been down to see the wagon and thought if its rooted and I start it then no loss. It starts, has normal oil pressure and idles like champ. :banghead: WTF?

Anyway, Ill get a mate to follow me home in it but I guess a compression test will reveal if any damage to the rings etc. If its all good I might still tell the wife its rooted just so i can get a 351.

Nut, the odo displays 340xxx but apparently it had a bottom end rebuild about 3 years ago.

John, my sister was driving it with my parents in the car and it just ran like a dog, wouldn't idle, and stalling in intersections. When I arrived the temp was up but not epic holy shit hot.

Watch this space.

Checked the water....there was none.

Its odd, there was coolent when all this drama was unfolding but when I was driving it home it stopped again. I opened the bonnet and yep a frozen LPG converter. I am hoping that the converter froze before the engine got hot and did any damage.

I dropped the oil and couldnt find any metal shavings or chunks so thats a good sign. A snapped heater tap was the culprit for the loss of coolent.

Ill be putting fresh oil in it when I get home from nightshift and see if it makes any funky noises.

I believe that when she springs a leak and runs out of coolent that the coverter freezes up way before the engine gets hot enough to do any damage. Its like a free fail safe system :) Ill be loading it up this weekend and going to sydney, going to take the family to the zoo. :yahoo:

Since my last post I took the family to the zoo in sydney, used it everyday to and from work, loaded it up with stuff and hooked up my loaded trailer and towed it to the gold coast and back. It has been great.

Im starting the next phase of renos on the house and could use the extra cash so if you think a tuff sounding, practical, comfortable, v8 wagon suits your style give me a yell and give me an offer. Im not going to price it as a "rare" or "highly sought after" vehicle as it does have 347XXX on it.

It does have a good auto (I should know it cost me $800 less than 12 monts ago)
It will come with the standard 15" wheels however ill throw in a set of EL GT's that are featured earlier in this thread.

PM an offer and bag yourself a cool car.

How about I kick you in the shins and poke you in the eyes?

Seriously though, I don't NEED to sell it. If it does sell it means i can spend more on bullshit expensive tap ware and shower roses for the reno in the bathroom.

The dog loves jumping in the back, the kids love jumping in the back and pretending there dogs.... I love that while I have the wagon the XR6 will be left for more fun and less car park dings.

Oh well if you have cash then your on a winner.

Yeah I have probably spent 2.5- 3K on it since I bought it so she just pulled a figure out of the air. Its not far from what I would accept so if you have cash then it can hurt to get in contact with me and have a chat.

I would be upset to see this thing drive away but I'm feeling pretty confident that no one will call.

I know there are a few faults in the car so I thought Id hook up the fault tester box and see what happened. I'm a little confused as it throws code 998 (great :banghead: ) and 185. Referring to the ford mods guide found here http://www.fordmods.com/documents.php?d=52 code998 basically means you should burn it because you will never get it sorted and it doesn't list a code for 185.

I wish someone who knew what they were doing could fly here and fix it...for free.

I have removed the unichip and its pathetic wiring loom so it should be easier to trace back to each fault.

i can tell you what 185 is.. as i have one of the code readers muzza was making and selling on fordmods

185 - maf voltage too high
998 - in the koer test, one or more of the major sensors (iat, ect, map, tp) are faulty. run koer test to determine the cause of the error

this is according to the code reader i bought of muzza a couple of years ago as the code book lists more than what the tech guide in fordmods does..

I was going to suggest that method for your face Hus, but thought it might hurt your feelings.

So now that we have identified the high voltage for the MAF.... what should I be looking for? How do i fix this?

I did the KOER and that's when I got the 998 and 185 codes. I did the KOEO test and that's when I got code 327. Referring to the EGR crap.

Ill have another look at the wiring loom to see if there is anything obvious.

So its time for me to start trying to sell this seriously now,

As much as I love and hate it, we are looking to moving on with getting a newer car (BFIII wagon). Now if you have read this thread you will know it has had its fair share of problems but nothing outrageous.

I have spent a few bob on it since I bought it and gets about town and tip/towing duties beautifully.

If no one buys it ill be parting it out. Ill be putting up a proper for sale thread as well.

I'm asking $3800 neg.

It would love to be a member of the Hus stable.

When do you want me to drive it down?
