dion was at the wheel last time out yes ???

Re: Built BA XR6T NOW ~480rwkw. Chasing 9s 2012!

Postby headsex » January 2nd, 2013, 1:33 pm

1.53 was only a lazy launch. not even 9psi on the foot brake. Watch the video, its a lazy take off. Hoped my next run hadn't been when the previous vehicle had dropped oil in the 60, as that felt like it was going to be a better 60.

Ivans UTE does done a 1.48 60foot, when he done his 10.44 @ 130mph.. Probably one of the best 60foot's i've seen from a BA/F/FG street driven vehicle, Especially being a ute (FYI: utes are heavier than sedans).
Christians BF ran a 1.45 which is sensational also-don't tell anyone but i think he secretly runs NOS.. lol!! jokes!! :P

Something in common? they both run standard turbos (bar christian who has bigger comp cover)

But My point being, if you want your 9, you need to 60 foot like a man. Whats made me wonder is that, Your goal of running a 9, but you have gone about setting up the vehicle totally wrong suspension wise. Coilovers? And you complain about "weight transfer?" or the lack of it!? But congratulations on your 10.8x anyways?!?!? :clapping:

My car has had respectable numbers every time its gone out. I've never had to come back to the forum and had to make up an excuse for it.

My excuse is I hardly have time in my life to spend time on my vehicle and take it out more often than I do. That's why you will randomly hear a time without prior knowledge of me going out and doing something.
Had i had the dedication of taking it out to nearly every single drag meet and had money to allocate towards it, I'm sure someone would have posted "headsex has ran a 8" post by now. But point is, My cars built by me for my enjoyment, One goal I've ever had was to run a 9, which really, i could have done 2 years ago given its current configuration has not changed since. I've never had a goal to beat someone else.

Oh, and for the record, my 9.97 was done midday in the blistering heat at heathcote.. Cold Night at Calder? bring it on.. Although, I really don't think i want to risk another pass on this motor.. it is still standard as built by ford!!!

BTW, Paul, taxjob only just made aware of the icerspec excuse gauge.. I hope I feature in the next one :P

the gauge needs to be a 5" monster tacho id say :D Mine is a stock turbo too :D just a bigger wheel! Or is porting/flapper mod not classified as stock turbo?

Agreed. Coilovers were a fail for track work. Lesson learnt!

I tried changing the subject line many times but i cant.

You need to change the subject of the first post, then it will change the subject line.

Change it to "iCERs ~480rwkw BA turbo" and people will have little reason to give you shit :P

Wheel change means not standard turbo.

Port/Flap - stock. 99% of people need this done.. lol

Ivans only has port/flap done
Christian has port/flap AND bigger comp cover. But has standard compressor wheel.

I think the worst part of it is running 10.5 then spending close to 20k, built motor, trans rebuild, external wastegate setup, labour costs tuning and fitting, and to come out and only run a 10.8.
That in itself is the clincher.

Just watched this one and the blue fg,the blue fg has a bigger stall converter from hearing it.
I would suggest you dont burn the arse out of the tyres so much,it over heats them and you lose traction and increase tyre pressure with the heat.
If they are semi or full street slick,it takes very little to get them sticky.
The icer video ,you can see where they are that hot it is imprinting the heat into the trackbite.

Wouldnt worry about the b s comments in the thread, just keep doing it! :)

This is the reason why I never guess or talk about numbers! The car can make power and disappoint as mine has been doing to me for years lol!

Just take ur car out, don't talk and let it run the numbers! Stick in there, put in effort and the numbers will come just takes time... Took me almost 10 years to run a 9 which is embaressing for a VL anyway lol

Best of luck :)

not bad. bit bumpy but cant complain. Terrible for drag racing :P

I can still launch hard on the street with them. Rev 3k and launch hardish no wheel spin. But thats due to other factors (IE stall/AMS controller, et streets etc)

bloody cooler hose clamps..

anyone recommend the best thin clamps (not those thick clamps from RACESPARES) that dont keep breaking when you keep tight them up? I have 2 clamps at the moment and top end of 3rd im still getting the damn pipe off. And no i dont want to weld things.

You are so full of shit !!
you will spend more on clamps, and sooking when you get chopped by a Magna, than actually doing it properly.

Dion must be a very patient person ! :banghead:

the problem before was the flexi pipe coming off the throttle body. Seems to be stable now. that has a bead in it (obviosuly throttle body top has a small bead but still there. Past few weeks it the other side where the dodgy pipe hacksaw job that has been coming off. has no bead as ive chopped it off. Thats my next go before chancing everything though as my missus bro has the machine to make the bead.
