2014 Ford FH Falcon Thread

Postby GIFFO97 » August 13th, 2013, 3:06 pm

As most of you know, Our current FG Falcon is currently undergoing a major facelift and is due to be introduced as what some have called the "FH" Falcon in 3rd Quarter 2014. Along with that we will also see a revised New-Look Territory.

Today at Fords "Go-Further" event in Sydney, a Teaser was revealed. It is believed the XR8 may make a return, As the bulge is a Giveaway. FPV is due to be axed prior to the introduction of the new-look Falcon, so it would make sense that the 315kw V8 in the current Spec GS would be transplanted into the new model Falcon to make an XR8. The Teasers show an Aston Martin styled front end too...

Ford have released the following information about the NEW Falcon;

“The 2014 Falcon will benefit from a range of environmental initiatives designed to reduce its CO2 footprint and improve fuel efficiency."
“Among the improvements are enhanced aerodynamics as a result of extensive engineering and design work on the car. The 2014 Falcon will also be available with advance low-resistance tyres and a new high-tech six-speed automatic transmission that will reduce mass and weight."
“The transmission will provide better acceleration and provide adaptive shifting, which analyses the driver’s personal driving style and driving conditions and then implements optimal shifting accordingly."
“Additional new safety, technology and design features will complement the vehicles’ existing five-star ANCAP rating and deliver customers a world-class vehicle package.”
"It is primarily an exterior sheetmetal upgrade, with little change made to interior presentation. The bonnet, front and rear guards, front and rear graphics all change."

- There is a possibility that the last of the XR6 Turbo and Miami V8 models will run an 8 Speed ZF Automatic.
- Fuel consumption on the Ecoboost 4Cyl is expected to drop 0.5L p/100km to 7.6L
- The Falcon will stick with a Hydraulic Power Steering setup.
- There will be no significant suspension changes.
- No Aluminium Panels will be used on the car.

Do you have sources for all of this?

Just because they might be axing the FPV brand doesnt mean the GS & GT will go.

If the Dollar keeps falling like it does, it wouldn't surprise me if we could squeeze out a few more months past the October 2016 Cut off. I would assume that with the dollar dropping, the price of imported cars will rise and people will be more inclined to buy Australian. If Ford spent some money on advertising the Ecoboost with a decent add, It MIGHT of survived. :glare:

if Falcon sales keep going the way they have the last few months, i'd be surprised if they even make the October 2016 cut off.

Looks too much like it wants to be an XY GT.

Also I'd highly doubt they'd shove an 8 speed auto in.

Like the front.
Rear could have defiantly had a bit more time spent on it.
But who knows. By the time it comes out and is seen in person it might make a huge difference.

Now the waiting game.

ZF are no-longer making the 6 Speed Auto's after 2015, I believe Ford have put in a big order for the 6 Speeds to last the Falcon out, But if they run out, The last few Auto Falcon's will have to run ZF 8 Speeds. 8 Speed sounds Insane, But it'd be very good on Fuel. Coupled to an Ecoboost, You'd probably get 6.5 maybe even 6L to 100km.

more gears doesn't always mean better fuel economy.
its not an automatic equation that if you have 25 gears you'll get 2l/100km.
its still a heavy car powered by a small turbo 4cyl.

if the ecu controlling the box is balls it would be a fuckin headache.

Why are you talking like you're an insider who knows everything about what's going on? "I believe Ford have put in a big order?".... Everything you know has come from news outlets who have written articles with poorly sourced information.

And talking about the Aussie dollar and it's effect on new car prices? We haven't forgotten you're 16 and looking at dropping out of school.

I tried giving you a go, I really did.

Firstly, I no longer attend school due to things like these within the school yard. With my disabilities I find it hard to cope with even the slightestd of problems.

I'm glad you did decide to give me a go, unlike many others in this club. And I was sorry to dissapoint you. Firstly, I'd like to say. My cousin, Kimberley works for Ford Asia/Africa. In product development, She previously worked for Ford Australia when Marin Burela was president and helped in the design of the FG but she recently got promoted. I was lucky enough to meet Marin Burela a few years ago at an Open Day.

The Australian dollar effects everything, I've learnt this in my Industry and Enterprise class. The dollar goes down, Imported goods go up, the dollar goes up, locally made goods go up. Why do you think Holden have made such cuts to their Commodore range? The dollar is falling. And they can afford to do so.

Anyhow, Without any further remarks, I wish this club all the best in the future, and with the clubs best interests in mind, I would ask that my account deactivated as I feel somewhat unwanted and fear for my own safety.

Thanks for the memories.
Mitch.

no one in the club will ever actually harm you from something you say on the forum unless you do a really good job.

we are all entitled to our opinion and no one has actually personally attacked calling you a shit **** at life. as much as sonnys post may seem like the end of the world, he wouldn't want any blood to get on his pants, so words are the worst you'll cop from him.

Giffo...its not just down to our dollar...

The new car market is on the up and up, even with our dollar falling, and those buying are looking away from falcofores as a choice because there are other cars more suited to their tastes. Also, with a dollar falling, out oil price goes up, and people prefer "smaller, more economical cars".

The whole reason why the market has become so fragmented is due to the drop in taffifs on imports...leaving us a dumping ground.

Regardless, a falling oz dollar won't sway ford to keep the falcon in production past 2016, its notas simple as that...we would need a miracle.

Hope this car doesn't look aids like the VF but I think it will.

So you want a fg xr8?

What's happening to the youth of today? Someone points out some 'issues' with what's been said and all of a sudden **** are fearing for their safety? Jeezus, he will be a dribbling wreck by the time he's 22.

Sorry don't know why I said BOSS. I meant coyote. I want the 5L N/A like the utes.

Maybe he means the utes from the racing?

But technically, even the 335 is still a boss.

Why anyone would want a na v8 when there's a factory supercharged one available I will never comprehend though.

As I do plan on buying an FH I would prefer the non supercharged one because it would be cheaper for a start. I don't want a fast car I just want a new v8 which will be reliable because I wont touch it or FLOG it. If I had s/c v8 the modifications would happen and I would soon forget about my own car, also not to mention my missers driving a modified supercharged v8 is dangerous.

Yeah I mean the ute racing JUSTA6, the ford utes are N/A coyotes and the LSx's struggle to keep up.
And Nstg8a you can stop trying to critique every post I make mate, its starting to piss me off.
