XH series 2 couple of questions

Postby risky » July 16th, 2014, 9:36 am

Hey everyone,

firstly, great forum, ive always stalked it but only just now signed up.
always one of the first places I go for info.

basically ive always wanted an xh, time has finally come to get me one.

To start of with I will being chasing power gains and I am aiming for 300rwkw.
My questions are:

Which engine has the potential to get to 300rwkw the cheapest? (5l xr8, 4l i6 xr6 with turbo or swap an au series in and turbo)

Basically im looking for a push in the right direction from the experienced guys of this forum.

I understand there will be a substantial cost involved with any of the options but this is going to be my project car
and I will be keeping it in definitely.

Thanks in advance for any info.
P.s
I can do most of the work myself and plan on building this from the ground up.

Use the i6 thats in it. With a decent turbo kit a good ecu and a good tuner you will very easily see 300rwkw.

it depends on the year. Some of the late ones (I had a 99 XH) have the hybrid motor, otherwise the XR6 uses the EL XR6 setup. The later it was built, the more likely it would be hybrid. Most standard XHs just ran the equivalent Falcon motor, just with the log manifold instead of the BBM, only the XR6s got the BBM. There are plenty of good XHs about, just have to check over them for rust and the likes.

Do you have the said XH yet?

Look on the front of the head and grab the first 4 numbers that are cast into the head. Then post them up

Check really well for rust. I didn't look close enough when I brought mine.
