What should with my ED?

Postby edjob » April 23rd, 2008, 4:45 pm

Hey all I've got a ED falcon that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Basically i want to get rid of it.
It's been in a shed and only driven every now and again over the past 3 years, has 169k on the clock and is a GLI and factory 'k' manual.
I've been driving a au xr6 for the past few years hence why the ED has been in hiding. Some might be able to remember seeing it as it has the plates EDJOB so stands out.
I'm not sure whether to sell as a whole or strip and sell parts. It got caught in a big hailstone storm about 5 yrs ago in Lilydale and has dimples over the roof, bonnet and boot.
List of extras:
Full 2 1/2 inch exhaust straight through with hiflow cat. Pacemaker extractors.
Full pedders suspension with camber kit on front. (not sure how low)
DBA gold cross drilled discs up front.
EB gt rear wing (top and bottom), EA brock front, u/k custom side skirts and i have a spare moffat front bar as well.
T5 gearbox with SVO quick shift.
Heavy duty clutch. (Firewall and pedal box have been strengthened.)
Just a 6 pot, brand spanking new head prob 10,000 k's old.
Polished rocker cover.
As i said was factory manual so 3.73 diff gearing. No LSD just single spinner.
Stereo with custom made parcel shelf so the 6x9's are the right way not like some idiots that turn them sideways. Also has 2 x DB 12inch subs, 2 x amps on rear fold down seats, splitters up front with in door tweeters.
The usual clear side indicator/front. Fairmont rear panel.
I've already sold the 18" wheels off it so its just on stock now.
I'll try and get some photos if anyone wants to see, hail dmg wont show on the photo's though.

What should I do? I'd be happy to get 1,500 - 2000 g for whole car. Or should I rip it apart?
Vic Rego 'EDJOB' would also be for sale but 2k+ offers only.

*Sorry mods if I'm in the wrong forum but i couldn't find a classifieds section.*

No E series falcon got 3.73 gearing from the factory.

Did you cut the parcel shelf to fit the 6 by 9's?

I'd part it out in your case. You wont sell a hail damaged car for $1500+ unless someone was keen on all of your parts to swap into something else.

3.23 diff gearing I think you mean ;) There were no factory 3.73 ratioed E-Series

Sounds like a top car (besides the hail damage), if you part it out you'll get double what you would selling it whole. It all comes down to whether you can be farked putting in the extra effort to make a bit more coin off it.

Cheers

yea cheers for the correction 3.23, been awhile since I knew what gears were in it.
I had a quote for 2k to have it totally repaired back in the day but didn't have the extra cash around then. Now this cars just been sitting there getting old and dusty.
I can't really be fagged taking it apart but if it will net me that much extra $$ then I'd be stupid not to.
I think the T5 is worth up to 1k alone aint it?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

T5 conversions are usually good for between $500 and $700 these days.

My brother is looking at getting an e-series. You can pick them up cheap enough these days. Pics of hail damage would be good :)

And the hail dmg. Roof photo is fairly accurate, if not a little more pronounced due to reflection. Bonnet it doesn't show very well in the photo and whilst it isn't as bad is still has small dimples across it.

Not bad mate. It looks like another members car with the GT gear. Looks like Grechie's EA and same colour too

For the entire car I'd be happy to let it go for $1500, if that doesn't happen I'll strip it down. If anyone is interested in any parts let me know.

You will get a bit more than that by wrecking it, but as a whole car, sorry I think you will struggle.

Nah that's alright it's reason I was posting the question in the first place.
It will hurt to let go of this car at all I know how much $$ i pumped into it.. $1500 was for the exhaust alone (6 years ago mind you)
but im sure alot of people on this forum know what happens to money you put into an e series. You certainly don't get it back.
