Burma thinks they can do it themselves
Wont accept aid money

Australia sends 3m to help

Australia decides they'd send another 22m bumping it to 25m instead of using that money on needed things such as local mantainence (roads, buildings, homeless people)

Apparently there was an earthquake in China today as well

200000 is one of the estimated death tolls if their government/military don't stop being paranoid kents and let aid (food/water/medicine) from other countries in to people starving, coz water sources are polluted, food is scarce and what food and fuel is around is costing 2000% more than it was a couple of weeks ago.

They are homeless people.
If you had any idea about international politics and/or UN-orientated crap, you wouldn't be talking.

I was watching the news report yesterday... A reporter was there, on the other side of a river.... piles of rubble everywhere.... then in the background on the other bank, 3 kids roll a tire or tire tube down to the bank, hop on and float down the river...
Was decent funny at the time

But yeah, the government/military (coup?) are slowly letting aid in.... but rationing it VERY scarcely

Junta-imposed population control. They're probably directing the aid to non-dissident areas :P

The US imposed population control on Japan twice in 1945.

Burma has some serious fu(king issues and their government needs to pull is head out of it ass and try to best help their people.

fully agree with that, lets get the homeless people sleeping in our streets off the streets, seal some unsealed roads, help the farmers a bit more, the list can go on, if we keep sending money to other countries everytime something happens somewhere then we will end up in a resesion (fuk knows how to spell it), im all for helping people but we need to start looking at our own backyard.

problem is our government hasn't looked in our own backyard for about 15 years.

And i honestly think we are awfully close to a recession if we are not careful.

It's $3 million, not $300 billion, $3mill buys 4 speed cameras these days. Now Autralia isn't irrigating rice crops, we need to get it from somewhere. Burma grows lots of rice, being friendly can help us seeing as we aren't imposing trade sanctions with them.

Thing I don't understand, is apart from their massive heroin trade, why a military would want to dictate Burma. They've got no money now so they can't build up a decent army.

Because they're too poor to set up an internet infrastructure and have http://www.burmaforums.com where the leaders are admin. So they do it with cheaper guns & cannon fodder instead. There's no such thing as a temp-ban over there :P
