AaronEF8 wrote:If the government took all of the excise off fuel, how will they pay for hospitals, roads, public services, centrelink, schooling (Looking at these forums I think they need a lot more funding for schools), firefighters etc etc?
Driving an E-Series and complaining about petrol prices is fucking retarded. Put it on gas, or get a smaller car. But first, work out how much you pay for petrol, and what 10cpl increase means. It means $6 extra to fill up a 60L tank.

Mate they double dip they have their exise on fuel and then tax you on their exise. The govement are greedy fvcks and it goes round in a circle the reserve bank sees us spending more instead of us spending say $65 on fuel we now spending $105 the reserve bank goes oh we are spending more $$$ lets raise interest rates, then oh wait fuel goes up anoth 10c per L we end up spending more and more every one but the dogs up the top get screwed over. If the government had of kept their word scrapped the exise and added their 10% gst every thing would be sweet right now. but nope they put their exise ontop tax you on the fuel and that exise and bang more money for the kents that dont even need it... Good ol economics for ya.

Nah it's not easy, it's not handed to you on a platter. But with a little bit of study in your own time, and a couple of tickets there's a huge amount of decent paying work out there, mining being one of the first one that comes to mind.

AaronEF8 wrote:On a slightly different note, is there anyone here old enough to remember the 1940's, early 60's, mid 70's, or the mid 80's? They were pretty rocky times in Australia. I remember The Gulf War in 1990/91 put petrol prices up to over 70cpl (LPG was 15cpl for comparison) and petrol rationing happened for a while.

Frost wrote:I see oil went up 3 dollars today to 116 which you know is a massive price hike from the 155 it was at, but fuel price in melb is now 1.56cpl. Feel sorry for u melbourne people 1.47cpl up here is still too high.
compared to perth the ass end of the world, its 142cpl
comparing fuel price to where oil 116 per barrel same time in may this year, fuel should be 141-142 everywhere. Melbourne is missing out
