SS inductions have some great gear but it aint cheap! alot of people go the mandrel bent stainless steel pipe route (check out the showoff section or build section) also us 6cyl modders got for a bigger intake snorkel ie AU XR8 or BA XR however ur already equipped there.
u could also try gettin more air to enter ur system like drilling a hole in the air box back through the wheel guard and running some hose down to under the car (facing forward obviously), or even try out the side of the box (engine side) and down under the radiator.
just remember more air = more fuel = bigger bang in the engine = more power ;)
EL 'Mont Wagon ----- Full Std & boring

EF Sedan aka Drift Hack ----- Forged AU engine, 6Boost, Garrett, Haltech, 6sp manual, 460hp @ 17psi

LBC induction FTW

j/k, just tripping over your awesome username.

Anyway, now that I've got that out of my system... You could muck around with a sequential scoop (I'm assuming your XR8 doesn't have this). There are two side scoops in the bonnet & the one above the airbox is functional & feeds into the airbox lid (which has a hole in it for this scoop). Member "Stevo" has one of these on his EL. I'm not familiar with the lid's internals, as V8s typically feed air into the bottom of the box, up through a panel filter, and then to the engine through the MAF & intake piping.

Punching a hole in the guard to feed tubing through can attract a defect if you're pulled over (not that that's stopped many of us :P) and the pod will get pretty dirty pretty fast if placed too low or too "exposed" (ie not tucked up under the bumper)

PS, I shot the deputy ;)
