Well the new look was short lived.

On our way to the AFF mini meet Friday night, travelling along WesternPort Hwy at 90kmh, an old guy pulled straight out in front of me and stopped giving me nowhere to go. I tried to swerve to the right to miss him, but took the front off his car.
He walked away and Beth and I spent Friday night in hospital. I was discharged yesterday morning as I only had a puncture wound to my leg and general soreness, Beth is still in getting scans and xrays done, so hoping the car come home soon!

Car will probably be a writeoff, not too sure I want it fixed as it will never be the same.

Bloody Hell.

Old Farts and cars, not a good mix. Should be mandatory testing from age 60 upwards every five years IMO.

The main thing is that you both will survive. A car can be replaced, but you and your loved ones can't.

Yeah, Im at the point where I know itll be a write off.

Im just starting to feel epic sore in the chest from the belts. I got the airbag, Beth didnt (no passenger one) so the next car will have to have a passenger bag and be a wagon. Probably look at AU2 onwards wagons.

Regular drivers are way more dangerous than any hoon- at least we're paying attention.

Re: EF Wagon Cruiser

Me paying attention saved his life. If I didnt swerve, he would of had me in his driver door at 90!

Went and had a look at the scene yesterday. My brake marks start about 5m before the intersection, thats how much notice I got.

Spoken to Shannons, it will no doubt be a write off without them even looking at it. Was only insured for $4k, I thought it was more, but at least that can go towards a newer wagon.
Will head down now and get what I can out of it at the holding yard.

:(

Good to read Beth is all clear now. Scary shit.

I've only had 2 bad experiences with old people accidents. One resulted in death. I really think at 60+ people should have a (subsidised*) driving test every year, and only be able to pass with medical approval.

Hey pete,

just saw what happened. glad you guys are ok but a real damn shame what happened to this wagon. personally i think it was the best fix up you have done since i have known you. it was clean with tasteful tweaks.

no doubt though if you get a newer car it will look as good or better (if you go down the same mod path as the EF).

Its game over.

Apparently theres something in Shannons Insurance policy about buying wrecks back. Unless you pay the premium for it, or the car is older than 35 years old, youre not eligable to have the wreck back.

The car will be auctioned at Pickles at some stage. Hope someone from here buys it!
