anyone else ride bikes? what you got and where do you ride?

Postby mattb347 » September 6th, 2012, 8:24 am

I have a Honda VTX1800 and love it to death. I cant ride it atm due to injury but it is cleaner than it ever has been!!!
Image

the EF in the background is my housemates car, its getting the turbo motor in my other thread.

Image

my baby has aftermarket pipes and a hypercharger, makes 120 at the wheel on a dyno, big shove in the arse when you roll on too.

I can keep up with fireblades etc up to about 120 kmh and then they pull away!!

up to about 90kmh i've got em!!

the beast does 0 to 100kmh in 2.9.......
lifes' short, if you aren't doing what you want to do then you need to start now......

Nice bike. Sounds like it flies !
I like cruiser bikes.
Here is a pic of mine.
Image
Image
I don't ride it much, more just here and there on weekends.
It is a full custom ICV
2150cc motor
3" BDL Drag belt drive
Rear chain drive with brake rotor.
300mm wide rear tyre.

Not sure how fast it goes as I am not that ballsy to push it all the way.
But I can tell you it goes well ! ...... Cornering is a different situation !! A semi can corner better than me !!

Dan what year model is the Ktm? Looks sick

I learnt to ride on my Ktm 250sx, two stroke. It's a 2001 model but it goes pretty hard and was pretty cheap :) I'll put photos up later.
I do a lot of off road riding, through the bush but recently started riding my bike in Stockton sand dunes... Probably the most fun I've had riding, if anyone gets a chance to ride there do it :)

Will probably buy a 2013 ktm 250exc soon, get my bike l's. Probably another set of rims with road tires on them and a small rear sprocket. I prefer trail bikes on the road, more maneuverable...

What a sick moped!

Anyway I've got an ag bike. Suzuki DR200, as per my Farm Fables thread.

Image

Revs its tits off after 80kph, but I've come to love just exploring around the joint doing about 60, or tackling the odd sand dune. Here's where I can ride it without really needing to jump on any roads (other than to cross a road).

Image

I've also got a pushie that I need to ride more, it's like Shaun's but more girly. Last weekend I did a 30km ride through some hills in South Gippsland, & decided to do a d/h run back into town without touching the brakes. This was fun until the 2nd last corner where my leaning over the front wheel caused the back to wobble. I was doing about 60kph. I instinctively tapped both brakes & this caused the rear to lock up & kick out, with slight oppy-lock up front, & I P-plate-drifted off the road, off the shoulder, & into some vegetation...

... which miraculously pinballed me back onto the road. I took the last corner doing about 40 lol. My "holyshitmotherfuckerIthoughtIwasgoingtodie!" o-noise actually sounds like the Joker laughing manically. The Jack Nicholson joker that is.

Its an 04 model. Thats what it looked like when I bought probably 4 years ago now. Ive replaced all the plastics but fucked if I know how they get stickers to stay on so they have mostly fallen off.

I wouldnt mind an upgrade but it still does everything I need. It's my first dirtbike. Good fun to learn on. :good:

I'd like to see your monster bike tackle a sand dune Paul :P

I really should re-rego my bike & get my L's. I envy all you guys who can just ride freely wherever!

So this morning I found out that stopping the bike Top-Gun style (jet landing on a carrier) sucks balls. I was moving the steer to another paddock, keeping close to the fenceline, when all of a sudden a loose fence wire snagged the bike & yanked it backwards/under me. I have a bruise on my leg the exact size & shape of the horn/indicator controls :-s ... And for the first time ever, the steer gave ME the "wtf idiot" look.

*edit* Parfrey/Neil, yeah I'm loving the area, I'd like to head down to the Mullungdung forest (near Woodside) & check that out next. Maybe later in Spring.

OMY - crazy L's bike!

Hope it's still going strong! Motor-wise, that YZ went pretty well for an older 125!

I've still got my KTM but I'm looking out for a new one at the moment. I've gotten a little fat this winter, so I need a bit more torque.

I would go crazy without my bike. CRF150RB, generally ride Sunshine coast areas, mx mountain, coalflats. Used to go to Ripley a lot before it shut down. :-( Used to ride a friends 450 which I loved but being a small female had to stop at a tree or rock to keep myself up right. And to take off run and jump. Was fun - until I stuffed a hill climb :?

Coal tends to do that =( my knee and hip still have evidence of this years later. But glad you had fun on the day anyway Bipolar :) Serviced the bike so that high pitch squeal is hopefully fixed and should be taking it out again soon....fingers crossed.
