FPV vs HSV, we win!

http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/features/1408/fpv-beats-hsv-in-definitive-power-test/

So I wasn't across the initial argument, but it appears that the results are pretty conclusive! How is this possible? HSV claim 430kW and it pulled less than 320rwkW on the dyno? Is HSV bullshitting or is this test no good? The GT-F claims 351kW and it pulled 340rwkW! What's the go?

Jesus, that got intense!! Why the hell did Ford crack the shits? Even the very first run of 311 puts the Ford at 412kW at the engine! They rated it 351kW and were upset that it pulled more? I'm guessing secretly Ford built the GT-F to beat the GTS all along, and just put the bullshit 351 sticker on it, what, out of sheer nostalgia?

Also, if the GTS is a better car, then what do the Holden fans have to cry about? Because Ford made more power with a quarter less motor? So someone needs to but a GTS, transplant a Miami motor, and make the best Aussie car ever! :P

The gts is quicker unfortunately. It has far better tourque spread and makes better power right through out the rev range up untill the 6k mark I believe

Huge v8 supercar sized brakes, gearbox and diff built to handle punishment, including coolers. Diff is also torque vectoring.
It's the total package, gtf is more of a one trick pony.

Easier to go faster in the gts.

Plus the interior of the commodore is worlds infront of the falcon.

Can't half blame ford though, why spend millions on a new model to only lose money?

The hsv may very well be better in some aspects, maybe all, I still call it an overrated piece of shit.

Don't think it is only Ford losing. All three have had huge losses.

I was under the impression that every single GT-F has already been sold? So price means nothing I guess.

Didn't realise there was so much tech in the GTS? Best use of an American engine yet hey!

Gtf rrp was 79k, I know of two in brisbane dealers still available 110k, and 79k for a pursuit ute

Can't use that argument when the GTF uses what is basically an American long engine!

The FG interior really shows its age, as nice as it is, has nothing on some of the VF interiors. A mate of mine just bought an SSV, they're a damn nice place to sit!

Ha, true, but at least Ford didn't just go ordering a bunch of crate engines!

I have only been in an early FG F6 but it wasn't that bad. However the VF is a very nice setup, I have sat in a few SS-V's and they are really comfy. I'd take one over an XR6T, but not a G6ET!

Xr6 turbo with leather seats. They may look plain but I find the ergonomics spot on. Really comfy place and well thought out imo. Not swanky, just classy. They tend to wear alot better from what ive seen aswell

Wow so many retards on Performance forums! holy shit lol.

I know you live under a rock Ev, but you didn't realise these engines have been making more power than the badge says since they came out? At the same time as holden/hsv have been overstating their power figure..

I went to a dyno day recently... my car made 351rwkw (a bit low) and 2 VE SS's made 215 and 225kw, both had exhaust/intake/tune. Lol

It's not 'basically an American long engine' though, block and heads are imported, everything inside them is built here.
Probably more Australian than any ford v8 since the Cleveland. (Presuming Clevos were cast here?)

Do agree about the vf interior, boss has had a gts for the last week as a test drive, damn it's a nice place to sit. It just feels special, you know you've spent up large when you sit in them.

Driveaway price 93k... A lot of car for the dollar I reckon.

Doesn't really matter which side of the fence you sit on, they're both bloody decent ways to consume fossil fuels.

Shane (95nfghia) put his Enfrocer XR8 on the dyno at a dyno day and it pulled just over 260rwkw (before he killed the engine) a few years back. Those DOHC V8s seem to be very strong motors anyway.

Too much plastic for me on newer cars, even though a lot of them are really cars to be in.

Give me a Clubby Wagon thanks over anything i reckon, V8s are V8s if they skid they are good in my books
