calder park putting up price.

Postby Hiboost » April 19th, 2010, 10:08 pm

"Legal off street drag racing pricing as of 30th April will be as follows.

Street Cars: $80

Comp Cars: $130

The competitor price increase is due to a 30% hike in insurance policy costings at Calder Park, and the fact that Calder Park has not changed the competitor price in 3 years." quotes from calder web page.

Is there any explanasion to why the prices are going up? Probably would be fine if they were doing it to gain funds for upgrades but other than that just in his pocket.....

Edit.......

Just read the site.

The competitor price increase is due to a 30% hike in insurance policy costings at Calder Park, and the fact that Calder Park has not changed the competitor price in 3 years.

It is getting expensive and again I think that the Vic Government/TAC/Vic Police should pay 50% as a way of encouraging people to go to Calder and not the streets.

If I owned Calder Park I'd prob do it too.

Who cbf going there though, it's fckn ages away and you gotta wait ages for a run. Unless I got a 9-10 second spec car I wouldn't go, and if I did I'd be shtting bricks that I'd get dikd on the way there or back.

If I bought that 10 second F6 that was for sale a little while ago I'd be going for a run next meet :P

Someone with coin and a love for the sport, not money get something up and running cheaper than Calder. Might make Bob Jane realise it can be done and will get more people coming.

You dont realy got to wait that long anymore.
Last time i went by the time you dragged and got back around the other side of the track to line up again it was your turn to go again.
I think i got like 5 or 6 runs in an hour..

Lol i didn't see the first post i just opened my mouth since i personally hate bob jane and his whole company.

Still i don't agree we riots or miss behaving on public roads one bit but end off the day you see it 24/7 that someone out there is hooning around nothing we can do about it however if there is a place that you can go to,to do burnouts and drags then it should be at a reasonable price like $60 or $70 bucks but most people are either to stingy or cant afford it so they risk it on the streets.

But if you can afford a car that runs 14's or 13's going down with numbers now then you can afford that $85 bucks to do legit runs.

Point is if bob Jane is struggling to pay for insurance policy why doesn't he make the government contribute to keep most off the d**kheads off the streets and at calder. Better yet why doesn't the government build a Andra drag way or whatever its called.

No the police would rather sit outside legit places or inside and target anyone who has plates on and canary there cars as soon as they leave. I can understand that part too if the car has chopped springs and f**k**d tyres but for something like bonnet gauges or a turbo under the bonnet. Even if you tow the car there if it has plates on they try to canary you i have witnessed this sort off behaviour by the cops in Shepparton when springnatz are on.

So does anyone know how much it costs to go and watch these cars perform at calder on a off street drag racing event ?

That doesn't seem to harsh and i like the kids are free part.

Don't know but for a good night out and some really high speed racing i would pay the $85 bucks.

I personally havent been a Calder before so i don't know but is it just a strip or a burnout pad and race track ?

sorry if thats a really dumb question but like i said i have never been there before.

Don't know but for a good night out and some really high speed racing i would pay the $85 bucks.

I personally havent been a Calder before so i don't know but is it just a strip or a burnout pad and race track ?

sorry if thats a really dumb question but like i said i have never been there before.

lol its expensive for the average joe.
i spend a shit load each time i race.
2 drums (20ltrs) of race fuel $400
car trailer hire $80-90
engine/trans service $ 150
calder entry to race$ 130
fuel for the towe car $50
thats about $810 to race an to do 3-4 runs which sucks!!!!!
an if something breaks then just add the cost to race the next meet.

im sure MR.CVE is in the same boat as me. what calder needs to really do is just have a street meet (friday nights)only for cars that run between 20.00- 11.0 secs an comp meets on a saturday for cars that run under 10.99- which will give everyone lots of runs. an **** like me wont have a sook at some hobo breaking some shit in his 19sec torago down the track.

All Calder has is a Drag Strip, $85 gets you a few passes down the 400m.
thats it.
