Hey guys, im not terribly mechanicly minded but i was just thinkin to myself, so obviously fitting the pod requires u to remove the whole airbox. from there i guess the adaptor plate screws onto the induction pipe thingy??

i no the idea is COLD air induction so how would u go about re-directing the air?? like im guessing by buying pipe that angles the pod itself away from the engine or something...i've been thinking about a pod for ages, i want a bit of induction noise lol!!

i didnt take the whole box out of mine, just the lid and filter. the pod is kinda in the box (cause its so long it sits in there a bit) i left the box there so it still gets some cold air

This is mine. It's hobo gay-spec but I think its what you're looking for
Image Image

You gotta buy some piping from autobarn and some clamps. Then clamp the piping onto the throttle body and to the pod. Easy as ****. Did mine in about 5 mins when I had no idea.. Which is all the time ;)
thebeast, you'll have it differently though because you have the BBM-type manifold. You'll need more piping to reach into the same area as where mine is but the theory is the same.

BTW, this is the wrong section to be asking questions.

Mate, 6cyl Falcons dont have a MAF, it has all the standard piping to the airbox, but with the airbox out and piping running to under the guard with the pod there

Hey, I've read your writeup a few times, you sure know what you're talking about :)
What I was wondering though... (I've got a stock EA, And I probably don't need this, but..), if I were to get a bonnet scoop, make up a custom snorkle for it, and a custom POD casing (I like to make things), would that be legal first of all, and would that cool the engine more effectively/efficiently?
I'm slowly working on the oil leaks, new rear main seal for example, but the head is leaking like a pregnant crack wh***, so my main concern is just some extra cooling power, so my rustbucket doesn't die before I fix it up nice and proper :)

Cooler air going into the engine doesn't cool the engine, it gives it more power, although the standard snorkel and airbox do a decent job for a near stock car.

Depends on the state you're in as to if it's legal, but I've never seen an E-Series with a bonnet scoop that looked good, except that EL XR8 drag car with the 20B.

IMO, fix the head gasket and oil leaks first.

Guys, the air filters nearly shagged in my gli, wanting to buy a K&N Air Filter to replace it, should I just buy the panel filter to replace the stocko or would a pod be a better buy to go in the filter box?

So they both will do the same job? May as well buy the panel in that case, can just throw it in without any mucking around.

thats the cfi setup, i don't think you can put a pod on it, if you convert to MPFI you can put a pod on with little mucking around

if you got the ba xr6turbo snorkel it should just fit fine maybe need to frill a small hole or 2 to mount it to the original holes in the body or the car... i think its the xr6t ones that fit no worries

Ive got the ss Induction 'big mouth' with k&n in air box... i didnt think it was that much difference. engine would run better as the more air feed in and out the better... right?

SS inductions isnt worth the money. For the price, youd be better off getting the airbox that Brocky is advertising.

car engines run on air and petrol. the more of each you can get in there at any one time, the better. when i put a BA XR6T snorkel on my EF i didnt notice more power or quicker accelertaion, but there was more throttle response.

anyone thought about using the (ba) xr8 pod filter casing thingy? if i was getting more money my ideal intake stetup would be:
XR6 shaker kit (yes i know ill cop a lot of shit for it)
then going to a second intake hole on the xr8 pod case
then from there to the log manifold....
anyones ideas on the practicality of this? not soooooo keen on the shaker but at least it would be something unique. atm i hav a simple pod sucking up hot air from the engine bay lol. But i have left the snorkle from the original airbox pointing towards it so atleast some cold air would reach it.
Thanks guys

LOL @ "feeling the difference" with a just a pod. You need to have a significant power increase (like 20kw or more) to "feel the difference" in your car's power output. Or a significant driveline change like a manual conversion or shorter diff gears. Or replacing a blocked & collapsed cat... As for "feeling the difference" off the line, that'd be low-rpm stuff wouldn't it... Yep that high-flow pod filter definitely makes the car launch better at 2000rpm :?

i agree i did it no way you can feel it not off the line nor top in of the revs best mod for your bucks 4.11 diff what first gear lol
only do the pod for looks not for power gain
