Great topic, I just finished installing all four power windows and EL GHIA wood grain/leather trims and chrome handles in my EF Gli wagon. This post was very helpful, thanks

Pulling a body loom out of a DF Ltd at the moment to go in my El gli. :blackeye: I've just lifted the black lid to the fuel pump plugs but there is another that heads towards the front of the car and back around through the wheel arch. It has no plug and Im wondering wth it is...?

Im not sure, where is the abs located in the higher models? Pretty sure the fuel door plug was inside the boot. This runs off the fuel pump looms around through the rear guard and around the fuel tank to sonewhere i cant see. Is it possibly the fuel level sensor?

No, would be for the rear suspension height level sensor. ABS is under the LHF guard on all models pre-AU. EB/ED have an ABS computer under the RHS of the dash, in EF the computer was integrated into the ABS module under the guard.

Higher end spec? LTDs had air shocks in the back with ride levelling suspension, I think some/all(?) Fairlanes did too, so yeah, it was the high spec cars which had the loom and plugs etc.

Ran into dramas, as always expected. Before getting carried away and completely pulling the el harness out, thought I'd make sure it going to work, test fitted the df harness to the el, theres an extra plug (black) on the df harness that the el doesnt have. I ran the 40A cable from the fuse panel to the grey/yellow on the df side of harness. Plugged ib the switches and a window and no go.

Im guessing theres something missing on the el side.. Any help is appreciated. Im stumped.

Hey bud bit of info for you,
When changing ef/el to power windows you need
to leave ignition on in accessories for 45mins with new module.
As it needs to relearn itself. My mates ef wagon did the same then
we did that and it worked straight away.

Cheers mate but I worked out it simply wasnt getting power through the fuse box as per the tutorial here. Ran the power straight from the battery with a 30A fuse. Also means windows operate without ign. :) All done.

Thought it worth mentioning. Check your tail lights after replacing a body loom. Im assuming this is because I used a Ltd loom in a gli but my brake lights werent working. The wire for brakes are the green and red going to tail lights, but theres another going to the number plate light plug.

For sone reason with the new loom I had to switch these as the power was going to the wrong plug. Obviously the best place to do this is before the loom splits to each tail light (under rear seat).
The green and red to the n/p light isnt needed in the gli and Im not sure why it would be needed in an Ltd either. "Check your Taillights".

Hi all I have a ford 93 eb wagon and have done the power window conversion and was wondering if anyone has wired up constant power to their power windows so you don't have to have the keys in the car to operate the power windows. If anyone has done this to theirs can you please tell me what wire I would have to look for and cut solder join etc any help would be appreciated thanks

Look up a few posts above yours, straight to the battery with a fuse holder.

I'm about to do this conversion to all 4 doors, but making up my own loom (got the plugs needed and such) so should be good!

There is also a yellow wire with a black trace that is fairly thick, I believe it has constant power, which you can tap into for power windows.

Funnily enough, it's actually an ADR requirement that the power windows stop working a maximum of 45 seconds after the ignition is turned off, so technically your car becomes defective if the power windows work at all times
