GT wing on an EB

Postby bazza_2011 » January 28th, 2012, 11:49 am

Hello

I brought an aftermarket EB GT wing for my car, but it didnt come with bolts or anything to mount it with. So
i was wondering, what size bolts are required to secure the wing to my boot lid? Also the wing has nothing
inside the mounting holes for a screw or a threaded bolt to thread onto.

Any help that i could get would be greatly apprieciated.

Thanks
Baz

did you buy it new?

sounds like when it was made they forgot to put the threads in the mould.

you're just going to have to devise a way..... drill some holes down through the top. mount some big **** off bolts in it then bog the holes up.....

brutal, but atleast it will hold unlike just sikaflex, how else do you think spoilers are held on? they always have nuts & bolts, so Wayne's suggestion was very valid...

If you could get a really beefy version of the first picture, it might just work. No idea how it would hold up though haha.

drill into the bottom. bolt from in the boot.
put something like 2nd pic onereded just posted.
it should grab in enough to hold.

what is the mounting surface of the spoiler like?? maybe you could make a thread in it and screw some studs in there with loctite so they dont screw out, then just drill some holes in your boot and put some nuts on the other side of the boot, and use some sikaflex around the base of the spoiler aswell, for added security and to seal against water and dirt

Are the feet solid? Or they hollow with just a base plate? Depending on how they are will depend on the best way to go about it.

If its just a base plate you can go into bunnings and look at all the heavy duty mounts for hanging stuff straight off plaster, like the 2 pictures onereded posted up.

( on a side note, my 1000th post :drinks2: )
240rwkw, 6 speed manual wagon. Good times indeed.
