Well I wouldn't say it's so much fail, you did run a 10.

It took you $10k and 70 more kw but that's not the point!

Also, how do i get my car in the elite section? Do i need more power, or faster timeslip? Car can go in, dont have to put me in :P

edit:

impressive DIY... ok guess not. Ive done things like gauges, plenum, i/cooler setup, battery relo + airfilter + box etc.... not tuning though and just mainly bolt-ons ;/

Its more for cars that are different to the norm, 10 second BA's are kinda common :P
but honestly, it comes down to how much the build has been documented, and how useful it is to other people who read the thread.

fair enough. was asking what needs for it to happen. IE, 2nd btr BA onwards that runs 9s. I didnt say the car should go in now. I asked what needs to happen.

Anyway mine aint a build like them all as mine is actually running and I drive it. So i guess it doesnt classify as a build.

All good.

Update: newish diff + gaskets/oil/service fitted by Andrew (Preston Auto's). Motor is out and stripped, head has been sent off and already returned (for clean/crack tests etc etc (no porting/cams work) but keeping the crow v/springs+retainers). All put onto the new forged bottom end and oil pump gears is all that is left which will be put in today if they come in. Motor will be back in hopefully early next week and running. Hopefully tuned (to im guessing a run in tune for 500km's) by late next week (am i the only clown who does run in tunes on e85 as i left a full tank in there before i sent it off? geez).

Anyway's, ill keep it updated!

Can't you get them to run it in on an engine dyno?
Running-in is usually 1500km, not 500km.

running in a fly by wire, ecu controlled car on an engine dyno is not as easy as you think.

running in can be 100kms if you do it properly !

We run them in on the chassis dyno like this one probably would be.

Meh my engines get run in utilising the following process:

a) Assemble engine
b) Fit to vehicle
c) Run long enough to check for leaks
d) Drive directly to dyno
e) Knife-edge tune
f) POWERCRUISE

They love it!

ye he will can bed the rings on the dyno and get it all done there.

should be sweet. Forgot i hat the ET streets on still when i dropped of the car. Either way he has some stockies to put on there.

EFalcon, i doubt ill get into the 9s ever unless i go full slicks which i wont (well this year) cause driveline everywhere will smash.... but if i got consistent low 10's i would be happy.

was an extra 3k to do the head work and cams etc etc. Cant afford that yet. Can barley afford the forged bottom end! Maybe at the end of the year. No point in chasing 600rwkw+ with stock CVs etc when on the street all i want is 450rwkw as I personally think any more and even with ET streets it wont be usable on the road. Not to mention it should get me in the 9s possibly on (NEW) ET Streets.

the extra 30rwkw should put me in the 140+mph which will be 9's territory.

No need to 'hire" a driver when i can do 1.6x launches and keep it straight :) I can do it on my own thank you lol. I actually should get in the 1.5's.

Depends what car you're talking about. A 'tradtitional' drag car (LX SS hatch with a tunnel rammed 350/Transbraked 4500/4-link) would be running mid 9s, but BA's have a comparitively shit rear end for drag racing.

Punching the numbers into a couple drag calcs using 4100lb/1860kg as a guide says it makes 866 Moroso horsepower, which sounds right due to the extra torque. Knowing those details, it says 9.78 @ 137mph.
A quick look at some lists of drag times shows that's pretty right for a drag car.

It also says you'll need another 61bhp/45Kw to get to 140mph.

My mates valiant does 10.72@127mph. 3600lbs.

That's on street slicks, leaf sprung rear.

This should to better then a 10.5.

yeah car has a 10.3 in it with mid 138s. Dion has a few BAs running 1.5x 60 footers with ET streets so should be good for it. I dont think i need 45kw should be about 25rwkw which should be right with all the boost i will wack into her. From 21 psi even if i go to 24psi ill go 450rwkw. On the e85 juice i should get over 25psi through the twin pumps. See how we go next week.

iCER you will be fine.
Do what you want, the way you want.

Don't worry about what you should run, or what everyone else runs.

are you still running standard turbo? Will be good if you can tweak the setup to get in the high 9s. Should run it with slicks to see what it does anyway...

If it weighed another 500lb (the same as icers) it would be running 11.2. Plus the advantage of using leaf springs, and I assume you mean grooved bag tyres?

I'm not iCER loving or anthing lol, I'm just curious as to what other BA-FG/VTII-VE Commodores are running with IRS. Isn't the fastest IRS car in the country a red VX SS running 9.6?

Fastest IRS car I think is blue vx clubby (tryhard plates). I watched it run 160+mph at Calder last week. At least I think he's running IRS.

David Sheehy has gone 9.4 with a IRS rear end in a BA turbo, unsure of what mods he's done to it but he's probably spent a fair bit on it.
