I think I like the silver better, just looking at Courts old thread here, he tried both but the silver looked better I reckon. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6117

Ok then, here’s a comparison between silver and black centres, I’m thinking silver still, but don’t mind the black, might look slightly better if I actually gave it a good black coat, it’s just the original paint on there at the moment.
If I was to go black, do you think gloss or matt black finish?

Gloss for sure mate.
Black would look good on your car.
Silvers not so bad but the chrome stands out heaps more

I don't like the black. Try a darker silver. Like brake dust covered ftr's .

I like the colour [D1SCNT] posted here! viewtopic.php?f=2&t=65&p=7674&hilit=cops+love+stockies#p7674

What colour is that? It’s like dark metallic bronze or something.

the BA XR's by far..... Don't know why people use stockies for anything other then skids. They look cheap imo. Leave them for the VN's :P

Guys, looking for a set of 4 Ef/El XR FTR wheels in good condition. Would be good if at least 2 of the wheels have road worthy tyres.
Somewhere within 100km or so of Geelong would be good too!

Cheers

Love pictures taken on grass, something about the colour and probably makes your car look lower than it really is too!

Re: My EF XR6 - Exterior For Now…

Postby Mate » January 31st, 2013, 3:42 pm

Got some FTR’s with good tyres for cheap, at only 16 inch, they’re a little small, but they’re a bloody good looking wheel, probably the best style ford has come out with I reckon!
Thought I’d de-spoiler it too, never done any panel work, so the idea was to pick up a crappy old boot from the wreckers, get rid of the rust and fill in all the dents and then paint. Ended up finding this boot in pretty perfect condition, after a quick clean it looked brand new. Anyway it fitted up fine, looks a little ricer with a white boot, but will sand it back, shave the lock and paint when I get a chance. Almost a shame to sand a panel in such good condition though!

Definitely throw a el tickford kit on it and go a tad lower if you can.

if you want to keep the attention away from the popo, paint some paint on that bootlid and keep a full set of the same wheels on. Stockies on rear just gives the impression your out to make smoke therefore id either leave the 17 inch ba xr or the ftrs

Other then that its a clean base to work on.

Which wheels do you guys think look better? I actually really like the style of the FTR's but the BA XR's are 17's.
Just deciding which I'll put on for All Ford Day.

FTR's, clean stock looking is nice on EF/L XR's especially when they are hiding boost.

My opinion, but the FTR's suit it better, maybe if the BA XR's were 18" it might be different.

Got Eastern Wheel Works to widen the rears to 8 inches. They just put a coat of primer on after, so that's why they aren't shiney.

Got them to put the original 205/65/15 tyres back on for now, but have got some Hankook 265/50/15’s ready to put on now!

I painted this one white just for fun, but I reckon silver is still the way to go.

$154 per wheel. $77 for a new 15x8 band and $77 for the labour of cutting out the centre of your old wheels and welding into the new band and primed. They'll paint them for you for a bit extra too, but I'm just gonna paint them myself. Might sound like a bit to spend, but I’ve seen a set of 2 sold for over $300 on gumtree and ebay recently, so I’m sure I’ll get my money back if I decide to sell them sometime.

The second hand 265/50/15 tyres I picked up, touched up the white lettering on the left one, deciding if I want the white lettering showing or just the black side facing out.
