Hey guys, I got this xr6 bout a month ago from another member, and recently sold my daily so threw some rego on the old girl the next day.
Pretty happy with it so far but as you do the same day I got rego I also organised for a motor to be built, nothing over the top for now I'm using a previous head and cam combo I had on my daily Eb manual before I stripped the dizzy gear and fucked the oil pump drive. It's a eb/ed head with oversized valve's, port and polished, was decked 10thou but been shaved couple times now so not sure what it's up to, has crow 2222549 with their xr6 valve springs, the bottom end will be stock au with au steel head gasket.
The day I picked it up
And my 88 XF Ute, this I've had for a few number of years and just never got around to getting it started until earlier this year. It's an ex-show car back from the 90's so every hinge, latch, bolt is chromed. It's running a mild worked 351 Cleveland with a built c4 behind it and yes it's mod plated for it, also has a xw/xy 9inch 4.11 diff, tubbed, ghia interior with custom bench seat. Still have to install radiator and fuel cell but is very close to being drivable

Long story but they were sold, and before I could get the backspace. I'll get another set once I work out what will fit

Update - The new motor has been finished, it's an au series 2-3 block with a modified e series head, bigger valves, Port and polish, crow cam 549 with upgraded springs, adjustable cam gear. I have a polished rocker cover to replace that red one
And some future proofing

So motor is in and finished with a few small issues to sort out, power steering leaking a little at pump fitting and engine mounts shagged so sump touching box tube bar on k-frame. All really simple fixes and doesn't effect the driving, couple of us went for a cruise last night and she went really well chopped em all (they all got manuals too) except my mechanics car which is crazy does flat 14's with all stock engine parts just shaved head.
So plan now is Monday morning it's going in for dyno tune and then maybe back to mechanics to fix the last few things, once the leak has been fixed we'll be cleaning up engine no point atm lol
Out with the old
In with the new
Nothing special atm but I'll be going through and replacing everything with new stuff and maybe start hiding what wiring I can

Was the engine built, or just a good bottom end with the e series head?

Just a low km good solid bottom end, originally had another motor organised but turned out to be series 1. This series 2-3 one has better crank and girdle

And that was done by hca?
I'm looking at getting back into a xf, and if I do then the crossy has to go lol. 100kw and the fuel, economy of an 8 is no good.

Why is he closing? Just had enough, or not enough business?

Dyno tune happened today by Luke at phantom performance and dyno tuning at Mutdapilly QLD, first time he'd tuned using a j3 chip lol brought my laptop with everything he needed and got to work.
Took a little while to wrap his head around the tables as they were similar but backwards to what he's used to but in the end we got there with a health 211.3hp and 300Nm atw
Reppin the mc racing wheels lol

Went to willowbank raceway for the last test and tune for the year, got pretty consistent results throughout but this was my best for the night. It will not stall any higher than 2k so I'm shit outta luck getting better launches
Someone more experienced might know but I feel there could be a 14 in it judging by the mph

ok so i may still be buying things for this even though i'm meant to be finishing the ute haha i can't help myself... The latest purchase is a tech edge 2J9 wideband with the LX1 display, a GM Delco 2-Bar MAP sensor and the usb serial cable to connect to a laptop for logging. Seeing as i already use a J3 chip for tuning the current motor and i have the burner and software to allow me to load a tune to the J3 chip i figure rather than giving someone else money to tune why not just do it myself, well thats my reason for it seems reasonably enough lol and if i get good i may be able to make a few bucks on the side tuning other cars with a j3

Wideband controller all done, software is all setup and working. Had a good play around with it today learning the in's and out's, I've got a nice tune in it now but I've gotten my hands on another tune file with a few more options to help me out will have to start from scratch when I get the time.
The dashboard with all the doobywackers
And my before and after
And with all this extra power i decided to weight it down cause you know traction and all that
