It will be a tight fit, i had a look at the upright on my AU with the factory 17 x 8's cme even that will be a tight squeeze to fit 9" Drifteks on there, I'll put up a pic later to show how much clearance the AU has stock

67rce - can you borrow a 9" driftek over a weekend or something to check fitment? That would be the best option.

nothin suss - I'm currently working on a set of lower control arms which would enable fitment of AU uprights and upper arms, which would give better castor angles, Au offset and access to any AU/FG brakes you want, from stock 2 piston 300mm rotor to 6 piston GT brakes

I built a LHS dummy arm last weekend, I hope to build a RHS one this weekend and fit them to the car to see what happens with suspension angles etc...

I know this is a bit late for the OP but for anyone else looking at getting UPC's, I have had the +20's on my EL for 8 months now with no complaints. I've had Territory rims on the front to clear the rotors and there is just enough room by the uprights to get away with it with 225/45/17s. I'm now looking at a set of Kosei rims in 17 x 8 front and 17 x 9 rear. As these are +45's I'm going to need about 13mm spacers front (I may go a touch wider to fill the guards a bit better) and 48mm spacers rear to fit em in nice. Snake racing does custom sizes for the fourbe market so they should keep the wheels on my mont.

The +28 UPC's came out a few months after I bought mine but I'm glad I got what what I did. Gives a little room to try different widths/backspaces etc. The only thing I want to do my brakes now is get a different master cylinder. The extra volume of the PBR caliper (OEM VE) results in a little extra pedal travel which you get used to but I do miss a nice hard pedal.

Ok ive got some questions that i definatly need to ask.
Im not the smartest when it comes to brake side that is all

Ok ive got the xf ( fairmont ghia) which has disc all round .
Ive just recently put a ea diff in it However im unsure of the size difference (If any).
Im lookign at upgrading the brakes but was wondering firstly what to suggest and what are some good ways of sttopping the

Note - It had standard disc . And so did the ea diff

the XF rotor on the rear is vented, but the same diameter rotor on the rear.

I mucked around at the wreckers once with the idea of putting XF vented calipers on my car, and I reckon it will fit. may need to mix and match brackets.

Ok my car being turbo now is it worth upgrading the brakes all round tho?
As i said they are all standard brake disc and pads all over and are prob not good enought

There are some good easy upgrades for X series falcons, can't think of the brands off the top of my head but they shouldn't be hard to find. I'm sure I've seen them advertised in Street Machine etc.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

It's been a bloody long time and it will be a long time more, but after making a really crap looking hybrid ED/AU lower control arm in the garage about a year ago I've had it measured up and turned into a file a CNC machine can use, at the bargain cost of ~ $1200 :blackeye:

I did take the arm to a suspension fabricator dude initially and he had it for around 6 months and did nothing to it. What a fuckhead.

Anyway, I've sent the file to a dude I know with a CNC machine and he's (hopefully sometime this century) going to give me a quote to have one made (so I can trial fit it to one side of the car and make sure I have my measurements correct) before getting a quote for a matched set.

At this point I'm unsure on if it will be cheaper to have them all made from billet or if I need to get the file modified to include casting tolerances and then cast from a mould then machined.

It's a waiting game once again.....Bloody hell I hope I have it right!

Make a dummy one out of wood? lol..just don't drive on it. That would be usefull for correcting the measurements before spending on getting the proper CNC thing done.

I made a dummy one out of an e-series and an au arm that I chopped up and welded together. It seemed to be the right dimensions but now that I've had it drawn I want a copy made from the drawing to make sure it's spot on.

I have a brake related question so I am bumping this thread rather than creating a new one.

Everyone says the EL GT brake setups keep the same offset as e-series. Is this true? The hub depth ("height") on an EL GT rotor is a lot smaller than an E-Series rotor. I know the EL GT rotor is thicker, but its not that much thicker...

Yes they were -- but there is no difference in offset in the uprights:

From what I can tell the EL GT has less offset, but made up the difference with a wider front wheel to end up with the same track.

I think they'd be similar offset. The disc face seems to sit much closer to the upright on the EA-EL stock brakes! Ive mashed my finger in there more than a few times :banghead:

I'm 99% sure the offset is the same, the difference is the position of the friction surface.

Stock E-series calipers are much closer to the centerline of the car than the GT ones.

Aren't the front wheels slightly different offset to the rear. Hence the wheel options?
