Wonder if anyone has any specs on it yet?
Ford press crap wrote:"The BA- or BF-spec I6 Turbo engines could never be accused of exhibiting significant turbo lag characteristics, however, the new turbocharger responds 30 per cent faster again compared to the previous generation system," Kernich said.

Otherwise it looks beautiful, I'd give my left nut for the Fairmont Ghia Turbo.
It will most likely be panned by the media though... Ten at the unvieling said "Its the new falcon, but is it really?" then said something about carrying over the BFs engines, NEWSFLASH RETARDED REPORTERS, MOST NEW MODELS CARRY OVER ENGINES FROM THE PREVIOUS MODEL.

The way I read that, sounded like it was a smaller one hey:Ford press crap wrote:"The BA- or BF-spec I6 Turbo engines could never be accused of exhibiting significant turbo lag characteristics, however, the new turbocharger responds 30 per cent faster again compared to the previous generation system," Kernich said.

To me that reads like they have used a slightly smaller one, so that it is up in it's efficiency range in normal driving, rather than just under WOT.

Drive.com.au wrote:Power for the heavily revised six-cylinder engine has jumped 10.2 per cent to 270kW.
Torque, or mid-range pulling power, is also boosted significantly to 533Nm, a hefty 11.0 per cent improvement.
For the first time the turbocharged six-cylinder – to be used in the XR6 Turbo and at least one new sports luxury version of the FG Falcon – produces more torque than the V8 engine (520Nm versus 533Nm).
Despite the extra grunt and performance the FG Falcon’s six-cylinder turbo now uses less fuel than the engine it replaces - and significantly less than the V8 in the FG Falcon XR8. Average fuel consumption for the FG Falcon turbo has reduced by 4.9 per cent to 11.7L/100km when mated to the six-speed automatic transmission.
Drive.com.au wrote:Boost pressure from the turbo has been almost doubled, from 0.4 bar (6 psi) with the outgoing BF Falcon to 0.7 bar (10 psi) in the FG Falcon.
With the manual gearbox there’s a launch assist feature. From a standstill electronics can instruct the engine to divert air (minus the fuel) going through the cylinders through the exhaust system. The air spins the turbo adding boost in preparation for a start. It aims to reduce turbo lag from a standstill, improving standing-start performance.
Automatic versions of the FG Falcon turbo engine have a momentary cylinder cut-out system designed to operate during gear changes.
Designed to give faster, smoother gear shifts the cylinder cut-out only occurs for 0.25 of a second.

G6? G6E? They sound like Hyundai or Daewoo names! Sif kill the popular names that we've identified with since the 60s.
I noticed only the XR8 had a manual transmission listed. XR6 N/A had only two autos to choose from going by drive.com.au
Good to see 270kw/533nm XR6T combo and the 290kw/520kw XR8 combo. And also it's good to see the turbo make its was into the "regular" luxo range. I still think they should have extended its availability to XTs though.
Hopefully they continue the GT/Pursuits and Typhoon/Tornados.

I don't remember being all that impressed by any of the B-series cars when they were released either.

Not a fan of the GT stripes and the panda eyes will grow on me, but everything else is mint.
