That looks sweet as. As for the rest of them... I'll have to wait and see one in the flesh. Not a fan of the emo-eyes on the FPV's at this stage.Nikk O'lass wrote:My first photocop of the new range, dumped, added XR grill and lowerintake, aswell as XR rims. Oh tinted aswell.

that's fkn hot, I reckon they'll look way better in real life.Nikk O'lass wrote:My first photocop of the new range, dumped, added XR grill and lowerintake, aswell as XR rims. Oh tinted aswell.
Because they weigh approx 6.7352 TONNES!!! New cars ftl.Sundose wrote:MMmmmmMMmmM the sexiness of a Fairmont Ghia mixed with the performance of an XR6 Turbo. How can you lose?
The way I read that, sounded like it was a smaller one hey:TUFED6 wrote:Out of all the FG media hype, the only part that interests me is that the XR6T has a new pump.
Wonder if anyone has any specs on it yet?
To me that reads like they have used a slightly smaller one, so that it is up in it's efficiency range in normal driving, rather than just under WOT.Ford press crap wrote:"The BA- or BF-spec I6 Turbo engines could never be accused of exhibiting significant turbo lag characteristics, however, the new turbocharger responds 30 per cent faster again compared to the previous generation system," Kernich said.

lol dam reporters.. if they say its not a new car coz they carried over engines.. thats like saying its not a new year coz the same ppl from the last year are still aliveserial_fool wrote:The euro- trash wheel styling needs to go ASAP.
Otherwise it looks beautiful, I'd give my left nut for the Fairmont Ghia Turbo.
It will most likely be panned by the media though... Ten at the unvieling said "Its the new falcon, but is it really?" then said something about carrying over the BFs engines, NEWSFLASH RETARDED REPORTERS, MOST NEW MODELS CARRY OVER ENGINES FROM THE PREVIOUS MODEL.

Drive.com.au also says that boost has been upped from 6psi to 10psi. I would guess a smaller snail too however. The launch control sounds pretty cool though.Rollin wrote:The way I read that, sounded like it was a smaller one hey:TUFED6 wrote:Out of all the FG media hype, the only part that interests me is that the XR6T has a new pump.

XR5 wheels anyone!ned wrote:Falcon XR6 Turbo

For what it's worth, 11.3l/100kms is the figured quoted from Holden for their 195kw NA version of the VE. Ford have done an amazing job on this front. 75 more kw, over 1.5 times the torque.Drive.com.au wrote: Power for the heavily revised six-cylinder engine has jumped 10.2 per cent to 270kW.
Torque, or mid-range pulling power, is also boosted significantly to 533Nm, a hefty 11.0 per cent improvement.
For the first time the turbocharged six-cylinder – to be used in the XR6 Turbo and at least one new sports luxury version of the FG Falcon – produces more torque than the V8 engine (520Nm versus 533Nm).
Despite the extra grunt and performance the FG Falcon’s six-cylinder turbo now uses less fuel than the engine it replaces - and significantly less than the V8 in the FG Falcon XR8. Average fuel consumption for the FG Falcon turbo has reduced by 4.9 per cent to 11.7L/100km when mated to the six-speed automatic transmission.
Keep in mind, this is all going to be in car which will sell for around $AU60,000. This is absolutely world-class technology, the sort of stuff you expect to find on exotic europeans, not a damn Falcon!Drive.com.au wrote: Boost pressure from the turbo has been almost doubled, from 0.4 bar (6 psi) with the outgoing BF Falcon to 0.7 bar (10 psi) in the FG Falcon.
With the manual gearbox there’s a launch assist feature. From a standstill electronics can instruct the engine to divert air (minus the fuel) going through the cylinders through the exhaust system. The air spins the turbo adding boost in preparation for a start. It aims to reduce turbo lag from a standstill, improving standing-start performance.
Automatic versions of the FG Falcon turbo engine have a momentary cylinder cut-out system designed to operate during gear changes.
Designed to give faster, smoother gear shifts the cylinder cut-out only occurs for 0.25 of a second.

The name FG is in reference to the success of the Fairmont Ghia which they have done away with, so as a tribute to it they named the new model after it. so its more a sentimental thing rather than a random shitty choiceTriymeD wrote:Dissapointing and the name FG? Does'nt sound right.

Actually, I think I'll eat some of my words. The more I look at the pics, the more I like it!Commando wrote:Yep, extremely disappointed. It's like they've overcorrected from the radical (as in, Muslim Cleric radical, not Ninja Turtles radical) AU and gone uber conservative/copycat. That side profile says Aurion/380/VE... Front looks like a Mondeo.
G6? G6E? They sound like Hyundai or Daewoo names! Sif kill the popular names that we've identified with since the 60s.
I noticed only the XR8 had a manual transmission listed. XR6 N/A had only two autos to choose from going by drive.com.au
Good to see 270kw/533nm XR6T combo and the 290kw/520kw XR8 combo. And also it's good to see the turbo make its was into the "regular" luxo range. I still think they should have extended its availability to XTs though.
Hopefully they continue the GT/Pursuits and Typhoon/Tornados.

I don't remember being all that impressed by any of the B-series cars when they were released either.
Totally agree with both of you.Sundeep wrote:Seriously never had a feeling like "Fk I wanna buy that car brand new" ever except with this thing. There are some pretty damn good upgrades all over and the car looks fukking killer to me on all accounts.

I'm VERY glad that it's not another AU! It's just that they all have a very similar side profile. Aurion, Commodore and Falcon share the diagonal rear door look, Commodore Aurion and 380 share the rake (at least Ford is bucking the trend here), all have the same doorhandles (I HATE these!). I know it's only a few points I'm picking at but look at say the VN vs the EA. About the only things similar between them were square-ish rear lights, and grey bars/colour-coded bars depending on model.Bipolar wrote: so just be happy they didn't fcuk up like 10 years ago, because most people don't know shit and go for looks.
