From what I've been told (from a gearbox bloke) E series BTRs have metal oil pump gears and a higher pressure oil pump.
B Series ones have plastic oil pump gears and a shitty low pressure pump. So the gearbox gets hot quicker, oil thins out easier and eventually melts the pump gears.
