Engine numbers and roadworthies..

Postby XRated » August 22nd, 2007, 6:39 pm

Hey kentos,

My ED needs to get a RWC but I don't want to fck around using the original engine. So it's time I started planning for an AU engine. I just want to know if there's anything in particular I need to do regarding engine numbers and getting it RW'd and regoed? I.e. proof of purchase on the AU engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

When I went in to change over my number for the EF engine, they wanted reciept of purchase, and inspection. Depending what mood thier in, you may have to make an appointment.

I think technically, in VIC at least the engine must comply with it's relevant year ADR's ie if it's an AU engine, must comply with AU pollution levels etc (meaning AU management).

I could be wrong, but that's my understanding. Either way though, I don't think that sort of thing is ever really noticed at Vicroads.

I just went to Vicroads with my car, walked in told them I got a new motor, she came out checked the number to see it wasn't forged. Printed me out a new rego label and change details on the computer and away I went. I didn't pay anything either. Oh and don't forget to tell your insurance company too if that applies to you.
