Metal head gasket

im getting parts together for an engine build however, where do i get the metal head gasket and how do i know if its compatible with my engine... i have an 1997 el, 4l 6cyl

You need an AU MLS head gaset afaik some of the series ones copped non metal gaskets.

i know it was the early 1998 series 1s it was in dunno if it was certain models tho

As for where to get the metal gasket from... any automotive store really, or through Ford if you're rich

Yes Series 2 & 3 are metal.

And yes it's compatible with your EL motor.

Isn't recommended retail on a ford AU gasket like 80 bucks? That's not that much...I get them for <$40 anyway :D

jimockmotorsports sell 3 shim steel head gaskits i run one on my lpg turbo 4lt to 20psi and it works well

yeah $85 is trade price so go there (from memory AU MLS gaskets are 3 layers)
