New member with a new car- EF XR6 Wagon

Postby Phillis » August 10th, 2008, 4:01 pm

Hey all

My names Phil, Im a long time E-series fan and cruise passenger, first time E-Series owner.

I just got my new toy back from Sydney last night. I live in Melbourne, so it was a nice 864km/10 hour drive to get used to her.

1994 EF XR6 Wagon
Usual XR6 stuff
Dual Fuel- run on LPG 90% of the time
Mocha/Gunmetal grey
152thou on the clock
Im the 3rd owner- pretty sweet deal.
I was also told that this was the first XR6 wagon off the line!

Ill keep it pretty stock for now. Ive been driving a '85 VK commodore for the last 4 years, so I'm gunna be taking my time getting used to this one.

The interior is pretty damn tight. Just the usual wear and tear you'd expect from a 14 year old daily driver- scuff marks, grime, fading ect. But my biggest concern is that the roof lining is starting to fall. Does anyone have any remedies for fixing this, or know of a place that can fix it up for me?

The exterior has a bit of a beating too. The bumpers are a tad loose, theres a few scratches and a nice dint and scratch just below the Fuel Filler. I'd say shes been in a few car-park wars. Theres also some tiny rust spots- whats the remedy for rust?!

Anyway leave me yours thoughts on her. I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, so I'm pretty familiar with all the nice E-series guys around here- plus im mates with that moron member that goes by the name of Amon

 First XR6 wagon off the line? That'd be pretty cool.
Maybe Sundeep can do a search with the VIN number to confirm?
Perhaps some spray-on glue would work with the sagging roof lining. Pretty sure there's a better method though.
And Welcome to the forum

Yep. Its exactly the same as any other EF XR6 out there, except its a few inches longer, the baby seat straps are different, and it holds a little more inside :D

VK- 22 y/o carbouretted red 3.3L 202 engine thats 22,500kms over a service

EF- 14 year old tickford enhanced 4.0L XR engine thats 4.3 kms over a service

I know what I choose. I still love the VK, but its more sentimental attachement than anything. Id love to keep her around for a few years, then put a dirty great big 357 or something in it, but thats not really financially practical to anyone!

I feel like i drive a car now, opposed to driving a strategically moulded piece of metal & plastic that gets me from A to B :D

Nice wagon, not sure about the whole #1 off the production line thing though, I used to work at Ford and when people asked for that info there was no way of checkin IIRC.

There wasn't a way of checking. It's bullshit.

But nice wagon all the same.
