EB CONVERTING TO A TURBO

Postby SESTIC » August 30th, 2008, 9:54 pm

Hey Fellas,
I just recently brought a EB and I am willing to pour money into it. I am a machanic and I want some fun and joy. I wanted something different compared to all my mates. I've done some research on turboing the car. I have brought a T4 turbo already and I need some general support and advice where to get parts for it such as. I want this off car off its face and willing to spend big money.

Turbo Exhaust Manifold, ( prefered top mounted turbo )
Turbo ECU,
Injectors.

Cheers Sestic

Search button and have a look at other people's build threads. Plenty of information there.

As above, read through some of the build threads. There are several really nice examples on this forum. For some general info:

Snort make high mount tuned length manifolds that apparently hold up well.
An aftermarket ECU is accompanied well with a wideband o2 sensor to regulate fuel mixtures. So far, you're up to about $2000 for new products. Then there's your 3 inch exhaust, dump pipe, cat, fuel reg, fuel pump, intercooler and piping, oil and water lines, sump welding, bov, gaskets. Transmission considerations, diff considerations, obviously improved suspension components and the big one: labour.

If you want it "off it's face" as you say... start by finding a good engine builder and tell him what you want. Get a complete engine built top to bottom specifically for your goals. While that is happening decide on your turbo gear and your drive line. When the engine is done install it and the ECU. Now it's just a matter of installing the turbo gear and getting it run in and tuned.

1, The snort stage 4 manifold has a multifit flange T3/T4, so I would go with that.
2, ECU is dependent on what features you want the ECU to control (inputs and outputs) and also how you are going to setup your injection (batch or sequential) and spark (single coil, coil pack or sequential spark/coil on plug)
3, Injectors are picked according to what your power goals are, there are many calculators around the net. We have discussed a few of them on here before.
This thread comes to mind: http://boostedfalcon.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=148

You have a lot of thinking, planning and deciding to do before you spend another cent IMO.
