Greetings,
I bought my Falcon 2nd-hand in Durban, with 173000km on the clock. I'm REALLY enjoying it. I've done approx 15000kms, with the best run being from Durban to Cape Town (approx 1600km), using 144l of fuel. What makes this even more impressive, is that I was moving towns, and was towing my wife's Opel Corsa on an A-Frame. I LOVE MY FALCON!!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Mine is a 1996 Falcon XR6 (EL), in a wierd blue/green, that changes colour according to angle/light (and how dirty she is!) There are a few cruising around SA, mostly in the bakkie (or UTE) form. There is apparently one that puts in a performance at the Killarney race-track here in CT,one in a while, that is recognised as one of the drift champs. Mine is currently in for a major service, and a dynatune, so I'll post some pics when she gets back.

And TC/TD V6 Cortina coupes
And 302 Perana Capri's

Welcome to the forums soutie. I am curious, how do you go with parts and service for the EL in SA?

Looking forward to seeing some pics, would be interesting to see whether this SA EL XR6 has some anomalies (like say an EF dash cluster or unique seat/doortrim pattern etc etc)

As for south africa. they got the Falcon till 2003, they got a 3v V8 Fairmont, Manual from factory. And the Boss 260 Motor in the fairmont auto. I was looking at used cars over there.

As for currently they have RWD Turbo Terry Ghias

The one thing that has impressed the heck out of me is the build quality, compared to some of the local offerings. My dad had a 2006 Mondeo Ghia (full import), that beat the pants of many of the more "upmarket" cars like BMW and Audi, which are manufactured here, from a build quality point of view. You guys down-under certainly know how to put a car together. I guess you take as professional an approach to building a car, as you do to your rugby. (sorry 'bout the other weekend, I think the Wallabies were tired, since they are IMO probably one of the most professional outfits in World Rugby, and we could definitely learn a few things from them, regarding choice of coach, players, etc, instead of toeing the "Party" line.)
