Hey welcome. You should talk to LUXO8 about the stroker, he's doing one too. :) As for the XR front it wasn't an option on EB XR's, it's became standard on ED's. 8-) :D

ABS failing would not of been the main cause of that accident. ABS stops the brakes from full lock and starting to skid, which if your ABS failed what your wheels/tyres would of done, it gives the driver more control to steer away from something eg, car or pole or roo. I would say Lack of driver concertration, Following to closely or speeding are the main factors in most rear end crashes.

Being series 1 it wouldn't have had ABS to start with. I'd say you simply locked up & lucked out :(

nah its got abs i'll take a picture of my garnish and of my cut abs lines when i pulled out the pump and threw it at the brick wall.. and my abs check light turned on and its suspose to revert back to 4 wheels as normal brakes. only my LH/F wheel locked up when i got it home and jumped in my paddock i slammed my brakes in the grass and only the LH/F wheel locked... so now say what ya want.. but to me.. that isnt abs.. or normal brakes.. i did lose concertration as i was talking to my missus.. but the braking distance i had was plenty but here is were my problems came across.

some bitch slammed her brakes for no reason so the 4x4 locked up. i was coming down a slight hill couldnt see infront of me when i saw the 4x4 i put the brakes on. noticed i wasnt gonna stop so i pushed it harder front left locked up. i released reapplyed but this time i punched the brake left wheel locked up. tried to move to the middle lane as i was in the right car was right next to me said to my missus to hold the **** on. and i braced my self to smack into the 4x4..

i admit.. in simple terms. f%%ked up but yer doesn't help when only 1 wheel locks up... sad part was.. i got my abs serviced 4 days before the stack. never find what caused the error light to turn on.. and i never will.. au front brakes im converting to and el rear. so screw abs in any model before EL/EF as the eb/ed series are nothing but head $%^&s :)

ABS in eariler models was shit anyway.

I would of been looking further if only one wheel locked up. Air in brake lines, fucked rotors and pads etc

At the end of the day I wouldnt rely on ABS in an EB-ED

Are you certain it's a 1991 EB XR8 with ABS?

I just haven't heard of any series 1 EBs coming out with ABS. My series 1 EB Ghia doesn't have ABS. Since you've said you've ripped out the ABS pump, have a "check ABS" light in the dash, etc, I'd say you've got a series 2 :)

It looks like it's got the 2-tone dash, the EB interior doorhandles you can see in one pic are light grey and the exterior doorhandles look pretty glossy. That looks like an EBII to me.

yer its a 2 tone dash/glossy door handles i swear its a 91. not sure on build date. if i wasnt lazy i would walk to my other garage to check but its 2 far haha :P

yeah frost i totally agree on that. theres a bloke in geelong who will fit the FPV brakes of the BA's for like 2K with new stub axles and calipiers lines etc etc just i need the dosh. so for the time being im considering go to the au 2 twin piston brakes with el rear.. should be better then the standard eb ones.. i shall find out :P
