How much longer do you think you will own an E-Series?

Postby Malakai » September 21st, 2008, 8:12 pm

There have been a lot of members moving on to other cars lately. Some are moving on to makes other than Ford too. For example imports make sense in a lot of ways... I know I'm looking at the other options that are out there, not to replace the AIT but just to try something different.

So... How much longer do you think you will own an E-Series?

can't see anything changing in the near future.
would rather pay off the home loan then get myself into another loan for a car :P

thats not to say a new car isnt tempting.. in which case i'd just replace one of many :P

Until I can afford to daily a Dodge Viper.

I'd love something newer (VY/VZ SS, BF XR8/XR6T) but I sure as hell ain't getting into debt for anything other than a house right now. So probably at least 5 years. As long as I don't end up as one of those 30 year olds talking up the stocker I drive around I'm happy.

I'm pretty much running both of mine into the ground :P The EB's currently "winning" that race.

*EDIT* actually, I'd LOVE an 8-series BMW after the demise of the EB...

They are still pretty good cars for the money, what else could I buy for $1k and run into the ground for ages with the same power, comfort and air con?

I want something smaller next. Either another bike or a newish 4 banger hatchback if I need a daily or station hack. Bike might happen next year but a 4 banger wont come unless the EF gets stolen. I want to buy another house farken.

If I dont need a daily I'd get a 2Jz, LS, BF T powered something still.

Hope to get into an R32 or maybe an '89 300zx (VG30DETT) sometime next year.
Along with a Suki RGV-250 this Summer. I think I've gotten to the end of my tether with E-Series unfrotunately. As glorious as the feeling was last year to drive the EB, things change over time I guess

Postby slo_sprint » September 21st, 2008, 8:43 pm

The Sprint isn't going anywhere anytime soon so i'll have one for quite some time yet.

That being said unless it's a MK1 Ford Capri, Foxbody Mustang or SVT Cobra i highly boubt i will buy another Ford let alone an E-Series, there are so many other cars i would like to buy before i bought another Ford (unless of course it was one of the afforementioned).

I was seriously considering an NL FBT for a daily but decided on the import route because it was something different, reliable, tidy and pretty quick considering. They are cheap HP, its rediculious.

Yeah unless I take a car home from work, then I get to drive the work car to and from work and home so that they don't have to find room for it each night, plus use it for work when I need to of course.

I'm with OED , something very drastic would have to happen for me to sell my car. I'd love an R32 or S15 as a daily, but it wouldn't make much sense to spend more on a daily than on the fast one (in regards to the S15). Prob get a 50cc scooter instead to tear to and from work in haha.

If I ever end up with shitloads of cash (which will happen about the same time the gumbyment start making intelligent road safety policies I think) I'll be heading to the US for a Viper :)

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. It will take something fairly drastic for me to sell my car also. I will be purchasing a skyline fairly soon, which may mean I end up driving the falcon less and less but it doesn't hurt anyone sitting in the garage.
It may end up a track only car if I like the skyline enough.

I dont plan on getting rid of my turbo at all.... I'd rather buy a house then get into more debt buying an FG or
something... although I reckon they look like sex on wheels :D I'd actually like to track down and buy an ED
Sprint in the next year or so.....

Once Ive got the house, family etc I plan on buying a 69 camaro or similar mustang and going the full hog on
that... straight black panels, 500cubes plus EFI big block, air bags, 20s, big brakes etc etc....

The VG30DETT is an enormous steaming pile of shit. Pretty much every jap engine known to man is better - 2j, 1j, RB anything, even an SR IMHO.

It is about twice the size of an LS2 but with half the capacity (and even less tunability), they are impossible to work on and the factory turbos are almost big enough to power a lawn mower.

I realize you can't get 300's with anything other than the VG30, but that just means you are buying the wrong car to start with 8-)

There are a zillion better options out there...

Be in mone for ages yet. I figure, rather than getting a new car which i'll then customise, ill keep this one, update engine etc as it needs it, and then buy an S15 for fun. cheap as to import, and there are turbo add ons made specifically for it + roadworthy + legal.

the EF's a keeper though purely for the size, love the body shape and the mont interior is nice....also makes for a good learning car - if i fuk everything up, its only another 3k to get a new one.

Reasons to trade in E series........

    - Single spot brakes
    - Chassis to sloppy for sharp off centre steering
    - Everyone has got one.
    - Oil leaks and pre AU i6's go hand in hand
    - Don't feel as solid as AU-BF IMO

Wasn't even making any direct comparisons to AU  Funny how people just want to torch you for no obvious reason. I won't mention names because these individuals obviously didn't finish year 12 and don't comprehend

$5,500 to rebuild a stocko fully. I've just got better heads. Difference is almost 5 MPH down the strip ;)
