i agree, it was pretty good aslong as you didnt expect it to be as good as the uk version. considering it was the first show, and they havent recieved feedback yet i reckon they did okay!

True, but the aussie show is almost a direct rip of the pommie one, they have a premade show, all they needed todo was drop in the actors in the set.

Personally i think the main host (aussie jerremy) was over-the-top aussie, like when you see an impersonation of an australian and you think the accent is way to thick.

I think they done ok. It's only thier first episode/season, they will get better, and soon enough those doubting the show now, wont be able to live without it.
Does anybody remember UK TG season one? I didnt enjoy it that much. Test track is gay. Porsche does a lap in 1.11, and stig does a fast lap in the celbrity car in 1.22??? WTF, thats gay. It explains why the times of the cars include micro seconds. Gonna be pretty tight.

BTW, All I saw of Niko, he played some fedral cop who was with a bunch of fedral cops doing a raid on some shop. He had about 3 seconds airtime. He had a pretty cool gun, probably plastic.

The older host sounded as aussie as Dicko from Idol

As for Niko, it was still worth the other 55 minutes :P He wouldn't tell me whether he nailed the hot asian undercover character or not...

for a first ep it wasnt bad.
i'll keep watching it.

as we said, some people will hate it for being exactly like the UK one, while others would hate it if it were different.
the camera work is pretty damn bad though, and the track looks horrible.
I think if they could improve those it'd be a big plus.

Pretty piss poor that they haven't shown any australian cars for the first episode. Piss off the cars 90% of the people in Australia can't afford- get back to more down to earth cars.

How many poms do you reckon can afford the cars that Clarkson and co test drive every week?

and the moke shark things was kinda gay, but as has been previously stated, the first pommy top gear was a hell of alot worse than this one!

I liked it, although I'm probably in the minority because everyone wants it to be a carbon copy of the UK one but featuring primarily Aussie cars, which will never happen. I think once the hosts/crew or whatever settle into it a bit more, it'll start to have more of the edgy host dynamics (or something) that make the UK one so good.

...and tonight's episode...yeah the Ford V's Holden was pretty interesting...and was worth the watch...and the Ford GT40 RHD001 was nothing short of spectacular...but what was with the other STUPID segments they had? An XR6, a Nissan Navara...and of all things...a friggin Proton Jumbuck....comparing value for money in the Kalgoorlie gold mine up against a Caterpillar? And the Mercedes "Smart Car" hearse....the whole time I was left scratching my head....not knowing whether to be horrified and insulted that they were treating the concept of a Hearse with such blatant disrespect (I would say I would be one of only a limited few that would be offended by this!) or to just crack up in laughter with that bloody coffin hanging 4 feet out the back of it held in by occy straps!!!
I guess it can only get better from here???

...The interview with Steve Bisley was awesome though....I met him in person when I was a kid....and he really is as much a thoroughly nice bloke in real life as he was in tonight's interview...good to see there are still a few decent actors in Australia willing to still mix it with the masses....rather than the stereotypical "Hollywoodfied" actors that have their heads so far up their own arses that they can't see daylight. (Guy Pearce...for example...)

I missed the F6 V Clubby segment :( Saw the mining one and was cheering at old mate letting it all hang out in the FG - and then he goes "I dunno why I keep doing that, it's just fun". That's wtf I'm talking about.

Smart car was meh, but seeing an FG copping it large was worth it.

I agree about last nights ep being much better! I loved how those blokes didn't even need an excuse to rip circle work in brand new aussie muscle! rubbish conclusion to the F6 vs Clubbie if you ask me though.
Anyway, looks like all you blokes wishes/predictions have come true all ready! EA budget build FTW! Should be a laugh to watch I hope.

The thing between the commodore and falcon, I suppose a conclusion like that keeps them both on side of the car manufactures and keeps both sides of the public happy.

"Just need to warm up the tyres first..." Awesome!

The conclusion between the F6 and the Clubby was a bit gay, they should have the balls to be opionated and not give a shit who it offends. Whats going to happen if they offend Ford or Holden? They are the ones that should be striving to make cars to impress the journos and road testers... The Top Gear guys shouldn't be any different.

As for the show itself, it all feels a bit rushed. The segments dont seem to go into much depth about the cars before they go off onto the next one.
The Maybach one was a good example... The Armored Van and police escort got more airtime than the Maybach, and then the only thing we hear about are headphones in the armrest? Pfft...
