Blacked had some bad news and some great news

Postby BLCKED » October 5th, 2008, 2:13 am

THE BAD:

as some of you would of seen on tonights meet my front corner of my car is smashed it. i will orgniase pictures tommorow of the damage,

basically a woman cut me off at a round about and is at fault for the stack, so i will be getting it fixed, more then likely it will be a write off. damage is pretty bad and market value is only $3800 at the moment, im hoping for a write off so i can buy it back and keep the goodies on it! so now im in search of a new shell for me to transfer all my gear from the black ed over to. something with a sun roof and good paint.

THE GOOD

discoverd some very good news about the motor from my green eb that cranners/sunny owned. the motor is stripped down to a bare block and in pices ready for a bottom end rebuild. my mechanic (darren) mate was over friday evening having a look at my motor and checking my bores seeing what i should do with it and what parts it will need. he had a good look at the crank to discover its a SCAT forged item.

he was pretty sure that it was a 347 but not 100% after work today i went to another mechanic (stuart) mate who sent me and one of my conrods and my crank to his engine "guy" to get it checked out and yes it turns out that it is certinally indeed a 347 stroker.

all the reciepts i obtained from the origonal owner were for a different motor when it had the blower or something, seems the motor has been built

so the bottom end parts have all been identified, SCAT forged crank, scat H beam forged rods, JE liquid forged pistons.

some pretty serious gear there i think, that would explain the 13.7 at calder i pulled. dosent explain me reving it to well over 6500 rpm reguarly. guess i was just lucky, also explains the notches in the block.

bottom line is the bottom end will be freshened up with the insurance money from my ed. just need to obtan a decent manifold and gear box and motor will be going into what ever i buy next.

soon to be 347...

Sucks about the crash, good luck with insurance, remember do not admit liability and if you have witness's make sure you use them even if it wasnt your fault.

Good stuff with the motor.

Good news about the engine but shame about the damage. If it had happened a few weeks before, gthofan would have had the perfect shell... but then he took an axe to every panel, and chopped the roof off.

Just keep it 499rwhp and you'll be fine then.

LTDHO had been running his blown 347 for a few years without splitting the block....

keep the rpm's down (347's dont really rev anyway ) and you should be pretty safe

yeah i did but i missed a payment so they cancelled it

bastards.

kind of worked out good, if i still had it insured they would fix it over pay me $9000, but i dont think i would get that amount due to alot of that being stereo and wheels and stuff like that, suspension etc.

well said mate.

i really dont car about splitting the block, i have another one sitting here :D

i wouldnt go for that sort of power from a 302/347 any way

go with a 351 or a big block (in a xd or something older)

that would be it!

wasnt 100% sure on who owned it and when, such a slut car haha

i think i have found my self a decent replacement shell aswell.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0285152913

i guess its more then a shell but its a ed ghia with a roof, pretty clean. hopefully i get paid out for my black car and i will buy it, chuck my rims and stereo in/on it and complete my motor soon as i can afford it and bang it in.

sell all the left over bits, i will have exhaust and extracrots off the black car, some rims, bit of stereo gear. suspension.

basically going to combine the 2 cars and try and create one nice car.
