RE-SPRAY.

Postby t1MMy » October 10th, 2008, 8:21 am

OK, so my car is going in for a some body work next week. Does any one here know someone who is a good spray painter? I want the whole car done instead of a panel here and a panel there.

man $2k, from a panel shop? must be shitty quality. sorry mate but a respray starts bout 3k + buldge + dents and the stripe.
+ for good quality primer, basecoat, clear, thinners, ect ect
not having a go but that sounds to cheap.

OK, when i say full re spray, I do actually mean JUST the outside.
And its costing all up close to $2,600.

And the place that is doing it has done the work on Bombers car, so ive seen the quality.

Was that $2k on top of the insurance money to fix it or $2k all up?

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

1700 is the standard respray minus the the materials.

You have sand, bog, sand, primer, fix bog, primer, sand, wetrub, paint, clearcoat > Note you can always add a sand in between the paint and clearcoat. X that by 50-60 an hr then you get your labor price.

Do you use silcone based wax, polish, cleaner?

Mate of mine is a sprayer at Europaint in Bayswater that have the $599 resprays sign out the front.

$599 Is a flat colour, NO bars, and you have to do all prep work.

Yeah I was just wondering if the insurance paid for a stocko paint job and you kicked in the difference for the different colour and bodykit.

If the insurance company paid for a stocko paint job and you kicked in $2k for the colour change and bodykit work then a paint job like yours might cost heaps more for someone else.

Yeah insurance just paid for stocko color down drivers side only. what i paid coverd for full spray in a custom red and then the pearl aswell as bodykit fit and paint. Id be guessing but if any one else walked in off the street where i had it done it would be around the 6k mark to have done what i did.

Thats right, well i had my rear bar painted by them after someone hit me went through insurance so i didnt pay they also did my front bar and no good at all!

Luckily (kinda) i got hit again up the arse and got the whole back end fixed/sprayed by M&M Groves (corner of Mountain Hwy/Jersey Rd ) and they did an awesome job!

Only a small joint but they sprayed a few cars featured in street machine and also my mates old man's '69 Shelby GT500 and the same quality to what they did on my EF.

Hey guys, you sound like you know a bit about painting,
I'm slowly (very slowly) painting my car atm, so I thought I'd ask here instead of creating a new thread.
Any idea how much it'd cost to paint a 1/4 panel for example.. (prepped 'n all).
I've spray painted a few lil' bits and pieces (with spray cans), and it looks almost*** OK, but I've got a feeling that when I go for something larger, I'll screw it up :)
