Group buy EF / EL Discs + Pads - FULL SET ALL ROUND

Postby Sunboost » July 17th, 2007, 1:05 pm

Hey guys,

I've been in contact with a reputable Ebayer who runs a shop from home about getting a full set of discs and pads for ABS and non-ABS EF and EL's.

He says can do 3 sets at $216 each. That includes a full set of discs with new grease seals and a full set of pads. I believe the discs are RDA and pads are just the cheapest you can get. They are probably dusty pads, but I find the effectiveness of the pads is just as good as a standard set of Bendix ones.

If anyone's interested let me know soon. I need to do the lot on the EL very soon so I'll be buying a set full price if all else fails.

Just confirmed, pads are also RDA.

These aren't bad items, I've used them before.

All this stuff would retail for close to $400 at Bursons or Repco as of 18 months ago.

for standards? high tech brakes do RDA slotteds fairly cheap. i got a whole set incl bendix ultimates front and rear for $400ish. that was over 2 years ago, and the fronts are now starting to wear through the slots!

edit: i just saw your price, $216 is pretty fucking cheap for a full set if you just want stockies.

Yeah just want a full set of stockies for a daily.

Slotteds and cross drilled make SFA difference. Anyone read Project 064 - The EL GT Story? They did some massive brake upgrades in the EL GT, and the tone in the writing with in the book suggested they were disappointed with the minimal gains they got.

You haven't slowed down from 180+ in both, they do make a difference.

Pfffttt you think you can feel the difference in an oil change in a motor..

Slotted / Cross drilled are to maintain effectiveness when you are doing constant hard braking, and in the wet - Not to help pull up as once off every week from a random high speed.

I should have said you haven't slowed down from 180 multiple times, they make a difference, you haven't had the need for it before that's why you don't know. Ask anyone that has had both, they'll tell you the same.

Anyway, can he get slotted ones for around the same price?

slotted discs cool better - so they'd obviously only be a benefit over multiple hard stops.

better pads make a difference all the time - but wear discs more.

ill suffer some disc wear for better emergency stops.

Ok mate, Gill's trying to work out a better deal with another supplier. We'll wait on word from him, if all else fails you and me are in I guess. I'm looking at getting these by next weekend.
